Theta Beta Potata[edit]

The info for the Theta Beta Potata used to be on an article with that name. That article was deleted and it was suggested in the Deletion Review to include the information here in the meantime while the matter is discussed. whoops[edit]

I forgot to put an edit summary for my last edit. I was removing all the redlinked houses and ones that link to articles with no relation to what is being talked about. Please provide notability information when adding any more. Thanks. Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 02:45, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ungovernable, I am going to be adding some punk houses that will be temporarily redlinked while I work on Wiki pages for them. I ask that you and other editors let them stay up there while I work on creating the page. I will of course add notability information. I want people to be careful to not delete houses that they don't feel are "notable" enough because that is POV. I also think that houses have the right to be put on the list even if they are now defunct. Maybe we should consider not deleting punk houses that are redlinked or not linked at all. Finding documentation on punk houses isn't the easiest thing to do, even if the houses are very famous in their communities. This is the one of the reasons that the article is flagged for original research. It's easy for me to ask people in the punk communities here to tell me which punk houses are/were notable, but this isn't acceptable "proof" for Wikipedia (which is understandable). Remove DH13.[edit]

DH13 is no longer a punk house, besides the fact Colin lives there that house no longer holds any shows at all. Some fool spray painted the house next door and so the house closed down for shows. Yup.

There is nothing that says the notable punk house needs to still be functioning. There are some punk houses that are no longer functioning but are still very famous. There is no reason to put in the stipulation that the houses must still be functioning. XXVII (talk) 04:40, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cite or delete certain statements.[edit]

1. There is nothing on the Slan page or in my personal experience that indicates punk houses are similar to slan shacks. Please provide justification or delete.

2. Noted that houses are also sometimes anarchist. Changed from "common" to "not uncommon".

3. Included "slogans" along with clothes and graffiti as house identifiers.

4. Deleted the last paragraph in the first section because sources were not given. Statements were not obviously true and need strong justification to be included.

5. Created note next to "Only add notable punk houses with Wikipedia articles or reliable references." Comments are: "How reliable are punk references?? How many obviously famous punk houses have Wikipedia articles?" I would really like to see this issue discussed. Obviously wikipedia: verifiability and wikipedia: no original research guidelines should be used but it is hard to follow "he most reliable sources are usually peer-reviewed journals; books published by university presses; university-level textbooks; magazines, journals, and books published by respected publishing houses; and mainstream newspapers.[my emphasis]" when we are talking about something that is DIY, anarchistic, and counter-culture .
