I felt that a song as often covered and still sung in churches deserved it's own article but I know only a little about it. Anyone willing to add more here is encouraged to do so. It may not have as big a name as Amazing Grace or Swing Low Sweet Chariot, it is still very much a part of the American Gospel music tradition.
