"The Power Sword" vs. "The Sword of Power"[edit]

In accordance with good language style, the shorter name (Power Sword) should be used in the article. It also suggests to the reader that the subject of the article is the entirety of this weapon's history, starting with the split version from the early minicomics where the name Power Sword was first used. Please don't move the article to "The Sword of Power" or perform global search-and-replace actions. PointDread 22:51, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In Masters of the Universe: The Live-Action Motion Picture, Skeletor refered to the sword as "The Sword of Grayskull."

Also, I feel that there should be mention of She-ra's Sword of Protection. Skeletor's half of the sword was known as: The Energy Blade.

There aught to be images of the various incarnations of The Sword. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.33.34.75 (talk) 04:45, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can get some images of the Classic He-Man sword and also She-Ra's sword. Someone will have to help out with the newer incarnations.--NeilEvans (talk) 13:42, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes[edit]

I've added some infoboxes for the swords. How do people like them? At the moment they are only on my sandbox and not yet in the Template namespace. If people like them it can be transferred to the template namespace and used across all articles relating to fictional artifacts. Any suggestions for changes to the infobox or fields missing that you think should be added please let me know.--NeilEvans (talk) 14:26, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sword of the Ancients[edit]

In the Filmation cartoon there was an episode called The Masks of Power in which two characters are taken over by the evil spirits of an ancient king and his queen. The king and queen then search for a powerful ancient artifact called the Sword of the Ancients, which the Sorceress tells He-Man that next to the Power Sword it is the most powerful weapon on Eternia. When the sword is finally discovered it is revealed that it was destined to join with another powerful sword, which is said to be the Power Sword which it immediately joins with. I have no evidence to confirm this, but this does seem to be an adaptation of the earlier story from the mini-comics. In fact in the episode Skeletor does hold the Power Sword while He-Man holds the Sword of the Ancients right before the two join.

Even though this can not be confirmed as an adaption of the earlier story of the sword, it may still be worth noting in the article that the two were merged (without suggesting this merging is a nod to the minicomics), though it does not appear to have granted any enhanced strength or powers to He-man. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.181.77.179 (talk) 00:12, 26 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Power SwordPower Sword – The word "the" is just an article, it's not part of the actual name of this item. The article could be included if this was a He-Man cartoon episode actually titled The Power Sword but this is about the sword itself. Wikipedia doesn't have the Matrix of Leadership at The Matrix of Leadership or the Cullinan Diamond at The Cullinan Diamond either. JIP | Talk 08:11, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support as the rationale set out is reasonable and I agree that the name of the item in question should form the basis of the (wiki) article's name, as opposed to the inclusion of the (grammatical) article "the". I haven't seen the series, but even if there had been occasions when it was directed referenced with the preceding grammatical article, it would not have bearing on the actual item name. • Support - Per our guidelines, "the" should not lead article titles unless it is part of an actual name (band name, work of art, etc). Primergrey (talk) 18:04, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per WP:THE. Rreagan007 (talk) 21:45, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - also would support Sword of Power (based on title of entry in this He-Man compendium). -- Netoholic @ 07:54, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's been a long time since I was a kid in the 80s, but I seem to remember that in the cartoon it was usually referred to as the "Sword of Power". That probably would be a better title. Rreagan007 (talk) 04:39, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
