Untitled[edit]

A historian would note that Callixtus was Zephyrinus' deacon, that Zephyrinus began the conversion of earlier catacombs now collected under the name of Callixtus... but a historian might be too put off by the intentionally misleading, anachronistic "styles" offered here to feel much like improving this little article, so pregnant with infoboxes and weak on text. --Wetman (talk) 08:45, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicts Section[edit]

Is the whole of the Conflicts section a direct quote from "Butler"? I was trying to WP:BTW but that section eludes me. It reads like an olden-day hagiography and there was indeed an Alban Butler who wrote a Lives that might fit the bill, but I don't have access to his work. If so, we need to make the citation explicit. Kevin/Last1in (talk) 13:40, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Butler's hagiography of this pope can be found online here; this mysterious paragraph (diff) does not come from there. While I limited my edits to little more than verifying & cleaning up the cites, one could significantly improve this article thru using Eusebius (many translations), Hippolytus (translations at New Advent & Christian Classics Ethereal Library websites), & the Liber Pontificalis (translated by Raymond Davis, & published by University of Liverpool Press). Using these would change this article from a hagiography to an article better illustrating WP:NPOV, as well as adding useful details. -- llywrch (talk) 06:59, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
