1938 Eucharistic Congress[edit]

I reverted the following edit [1] because it deleted material cited to an academic work published by university press and replaced it with text taken from an overtly apologetics source. For anyone interested the reason why the academic is most likely making the case that Pacelli is referring to the Jews is because he is quoting the gospel which clearly identifies the "Crucify him!" with Jews i.e:

"It was the day of Preparation of Passover Week, about the sixth hour. "Here is your king," Pilate said to the Jews. But they shouted, "Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!". (john 19:14)

This was an inappropriate reversal, based on a factually incorrect statement about the Phayer citation. I am the user who made the change and I am now here under my own username. I retained the citation and the quote as well, only rearranging them in the section, as one can see by comparing the original to the change.

The sources I cite are a Time Magazine news article (not an "apologetics source" as Yt95 falsely claims) and First Things, a highly respected intellectual review of religion and the public square. The First Things article is written by a law professor and an historian who provide useful factual information about the controversy. The material is appropriate for the topic and is from a respected source, written by academics. Yt95's claim that these publications are not "reliable sources" is simply false.
