Untitled[edit]

This is work in progress, I don't submit it to draft review yet, so please take it into consideration and don't remove it. More sources, more text incoming. Who knows, maybe even other types of media will be added too. This genre is a rather established phenomenon in hip-hop genre hierarchy, despite being relatively new, and every fan of modern underground hip-hop heard it at least once, I think. Ok it's march so let's nominate it for a standalone article candidacy[edit]

As I'm now seeing some interest from other wikipedians, like User:Prynce Vo, who greatly contributed to this article by clearing grammar and re-wording the clunkiness I wrote, let's try to nominate it to become a real article. Plugg! PDDisPDDat (talk) 10:33, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Plugg monthly samples"[edit]

Plugg beatpacks are oftentimes distributed in the form of short mixes, joining loops from different beats into smoothly transitioning standalone track, the practice that is called samples in the scene.

I added it and later removed it myself cause I can't find a source affirming that. It's an obvious practice, XanGang and MexikoDro (for instance) use it for years, yet no source confirms this. If anyone has source for this claim please move it back in PDDisPDDat (talk) 11:11, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

On BeatPluggTwo[edit]

He goes mentioned as a member of BeatPluggz in interview with Serane, so I mentioned him in history section. A quick search on soundcloud reveals that this man was making plugg sound as early as in April 2014 (TeeJay - Remember [Prod. BeatPluggTwo]). However, someone previously vandalized the lead saying that MexikoDro was a sidekick and Two & Xool were original creators of Beatpluggz. This is unsourced and I tried my best but found 0 sources to support this claim. Personally, I have nothing against BeatPluggTwo, but such huge claims should be supported by sources so I deleted the claim from the lead. I think it doesn't really help to clutter the lead with mentions of all BeatPluggz members cause they were simply too many of them, while PoloBoy, Xool and Dro are, arguably, the names mentioned by most sources (although all members are mentioned in the History section). If anyone has any sources on BeatPluggTwo (apart from his own claims that he invented plugg and the plugg tag, which he these days spams across all of his social media), please add more info about him PDDisPDDat (talk) 02:05, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

More sources[edit]

That are not used in the article yet:

And more:

Would be good to add a section on Brazilian plugg, but I don't know Portuguese and have hard time finding sources PDDisPDDat (talk) 00:56, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Characteristics can be rewritten[edit]

And be split into sub sections called "808 and rhythm", "Chords and melodies", "Other characteristics", "Youtube tutorials". Some examples can be provided too, mimicking rhythms of the all tracks mentioned in the article, and more. That's because characteristics is a crucial section in this article and if it's poorly written, then what's the point of the article at all. PDDisPDDat (talk) 05:23, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Section's questionable verifiability[edit]

A quick search uncovered that there are no reliable sources, neither in English nor in Russian, that can be cited for the last paragraph of "Regional scenes", relating to habip matsuevich, "kumar records" or "oper plugg". Most of existing mentions of those reside on user-generated content platforms. The mentioned track hasn't even been properly released on major distribution services.

I'm not removing any of this since no exhaustive search was performed and I'll be thankful if someone can provide reliable citations. Otherwise please reconsider publishing this paragraph. 193.143.67.31 (talk) 05:48, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The whole article is a mess and needs a good clean-up – it's definitely notable and there are plenty of RS here, but also a lot of blogs and other non-RS sources. In addition, I suspect there is a great deal of OR and addition or replacement of names that aren't in the RS... someone needs to take the time to go through the article and the references properly.
