Collaborations?

I'm sorry but this list of collaborations and "remixes" seem like a list from a peer to peer network. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by As4xx (talkcontribs) 03:23, 7 February 2007 (UTC).

Actually, most of them I researched them through the iTunes music store. I put "Pitbull" on the Search and put some of them in the list. Also, I found this site that had a mixtape with Pitbull that made "The Miami Remix" of several song. The Promiscuous one was on his MySpace but the one I will need to prove is Remix)". --esanchez, Camp Lazlo fan! 04:22, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Oh, okay, I know the lovers and friends remix exists, I'll try finding something verifiable on it--As4xx 05:44, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

I know the Lovers and Friends remix exists too. But it has kind of a Reggaeton beat to it rather than the original one.

I just posted a tag on this section because Wikipedia doesn't have to list every single song by another musician that a certain musician has appeared on if Wikipedia can't provide "List of all songs by X". Thus, let's just reduce it to other recording artist's singles that feature Pitbull. Remixes of singles are acceptable in that section if they can be traced back to reliable sources, not just LimeWire or random P2P websites. Thanks. --Andrewlp1991 06:32, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

If that's the case, will we be required to provide actual CDs, vinyls or LPs? Note that some songs from artists nowadays are only being released in MP3 form. Since those songs are rare, verification from the artist or the label itself might be necessary. ElMeroEse (talk) 22:21, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

What makes the issue confusing is that many people will take vocals from one song and make a reggaeton mix of another song, and insert the vocals. Basically, someone could rip Pitbull's vocals from, say, "Culo", and put them over a new reggaeton beat, mix them with another song, say, "Lovers and Friends", and call it "Lovers and Friends (Reggaeton Mix featuring Pitbull)", even though the use of the vocals were not authorized by Pitbull and the remix is unofficial. Rhythmnation2004 (talk) 02:52, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

The list isn't inherently unencyclopedia, it may just need cleanup as Rhythmnation2004 suggests. A man notable for rapping should rightly have the instances of his recordings listed in the article. –Pomte 12:49, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Pitbull's political views and criticism

There should be a section on Pitbull's anti-Cuba views and the criticism thereof. But can anyone find an accurate summary of his political views?

SneakFreak (talk) 20:44, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

He is against the dictatorship of the Cuban government. That does not make him "anti Cuba."

Mariel is the name of the Cuban town where the boats transporting Cubans to USA departed from following the 1980s crisis in Cuba. See [[2]] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.195.246.159 (talk) 22:57, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Split discography

Considering Pitbull's discography has become to large now, I believe it's time to split it into its own separate article. I actually took the then-non-existent article to WP:DRV back in August to no success. Since then, the discography has continued to grow and I feel now more than then that the discography merits its own article. Due to the outcome of the DRV, the article was recreated as a protected redirect and the only way to restore it is to come to a consensus here on the talk page. I, obviously, am for recreation and would like others to opine on this issue. — ξxplicit 08:35, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Born in 1981???? Pitbull looks like much older. It's impossible that a man with Pitbull's physique were born such later as 1981; he has at least 40 years old (and tons of age prejudices). So, it would be good a really reliable reference as for his real age.

American rapper?

In the introductory paragraph it states that pitbull is "American". He was indeed born in the United States, but to Cuban parents. In this situation, people are referenced as "Cuban-Americans". Pitbull himself has stated that he is the later in an interview to CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/10/24/pitbull.rapper/index.html (Read the last question). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.9.106.64 (talk) 05:24, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, you're right. I went to change "American" to "Cuban American" and noticed an HTML comment there that nationalities should be listed in the lead, not ethnicities. sure enough, Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(biographies)#Opening_paragraph states, "Ethnicity or sexuality should not generally be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability." Although ethnically Cuban, he doesn't appear to have Cuban citizenship and thus his nationality is purely American and he should be listed as an American rapper. Above RM

I note the above RM. The problem is printed sources don't say "[the] entertainer Pitbull" they say 141x "rapper pitbull." This is an ugly neologism because we know "John Smith (singer)" isn't quite right because, well, John Smith cannot "sing" a note. But this isn't the meaning of entertainer either. Lead length

Per WP:LEADLENGTH, the lead is way too long. The article is only about 33,000 characters and therefore the lead should really only have a maximum of three paragraphs. It currently has five. And the most lead paragraphs any article should typically have, even the many that are over 100,000 characters, is four. There are rare exceptions for top-tier entertainers (and other subjects) such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Elvis Presley. The Jackson article has five lead paragraphs, but this is because the article is a whopping 225,000 characters. Madonna and Presley are also huge - 183,000 and 177,000 characters, respectively - and they each have four lead paragraphs. This article's size is obviously just a small fraction of those three. As MOS:LEAD points out, the lead should summarize the article's "most important aspects". Therefore, I'd suggest that any content in the lead that is clearly not lead-worthy be removed, and it be reduced to two or three paragraphs. Thanks. --76.189.109.155 (talk) 02:01, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Edit request - typo and grammar

In the Early life section, the first sentence of the second paragraph mistakenly uses the word "rational" instead of "rationale". ;) But I would strongly suggest just removing that word from the sentence entirely, and rewriting the sentence so that it is more straightforward and uses proper grammar. The current grammar is incorrect.

CURRENT SENTENCE: Pitbull's rational for his stage name, "they bite to lock. The dog is too stupid to lose. And they're outlawed in Dade County. They're basically everything that I am. It's been a constant fight."[1]

CHANGE TO: He said he chose his stage name because pitbulls "bite to lock. The dog is too stupid to lose. And they're outlawed in Dade County. They're basically everything that I am. It's been a constant fight".[1]

Note: Per MoS, the final period should be outside the quotation marks since the quote is only part of a sentence from the source, rather than being the entire sentence. The full sentence from the source is, "He dubbed himself "Pitbull" because, he says, "they bite to lock. The dog is too stupid to lose. And they're outlawed in Dade County. They're basically everything that I am. It's been a constant fight." --76.189.109.155 (talk) 10:29, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Pitbull (entertainer)Pitbull (rapper) – I think the previous RM misunderstood the purpose of a good disambiguator. For people, it should usually be a profession or position they are best known for. And Pitbull is best known as a rapper, not as a songwriter or record producer. It's clear that he's more often referred to as a rapper than an entertainer outside of Wikipedia. Compare pitbull rapper -wikipedia and pitbull entertainer -wikipedia (and at least some results on the latter still seem to derive from Wikipedia usage). Additionally, I share the concerns other editors have voiced in similar RMs, that "entertainer" is largely a neologism the way we use it, and is more likely to conjure mental images of jugglers than popular musicians. BDD (talk) 23:05, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

  • Oppose. We already went through the process of changing it from rapper to entertainer in November 2011; why change it back? Also, the man might change his focus from rapping to dancing. Entertainer covers it all. Leave it the way it is. GroveGuy (talk) 08:38, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Support. The use of "(entertainer)" to denote a class of, primarily, hip-hop musicians, rather than calling them musicians, is uninformative, counterproductive to disambiguation (not that actual disambiguation is the purpose of this particular disambiguation tag), and frankly obnoxious. Notes on change from "entertainer" to "rapper"

Before going to specifics of our discussions, just a brief word about how legit a "rapper" Pitbull is. The rap community acts in disdain every time he is called a rapper, as many consider him just a pop singer churning out some words to dance songs in night venues and on radio/television. That's not rapping, they say.... Are we just fuelling the debate with calling him a rapper again, as if pouring more gasoline on the fire now that he is "officially" dubbed a rapper in Wikipedia? Now back to our basic discussion.

I notice our change came as a result of just 4 people taking part in a very brief discussion, and with a 3-1 decision now Pitbull is suddenly just a rapper, not an entertainer. For some he may not be a rapper anyhow as I explained. For others, he may be a rapper, yes, but more than "just a rapper". I am of the opinion of this category. Yes, he is a rapper, but he is also a singer, a songwriter, an entrepreneur, a record producer. The change couldn't come at a worse time for us when we now know he is acting voice over in Epic (film) playing some character. Why was this never brought up in the discussions? Pitbull also acted in a movie called Blood Money directed by Gregory McQualter. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1753521/ See article titled "Pitbull Makes His Acting Debut in Blood Money, a Hyperviolent Shaolin Drug Flick Set in Miami" http://thephoenixmag.com/pitbull-blood-money-miami/ review http://www.kungfucinema.com/reviews/review-blood-money-2012 . The only opposing view by User:GroveGuy is wise, right to the point and predicted all this. "We already went through the process of changing it from rapper to entertainer in November 2011; why change it back? Also, the man might change his focus from rapping to dancing. Entertainer covers it all. Leave it the way it is." Now his comments will haunt you with revelations of being an actor in two films. Plus he has expressed desire for a lead role in a majour film...

There's nothing wrong with entertainer. We have Usher (entertainer), not Usher singer. We have Chris Brown (American entertainer), we have Madonna (entertainer). Pitbull (entertainer) as we had it since 2011 was by far more accurate than Pitbull (rapper) as per our new, and in my view, pre-mature decision. Our decision is more counter-productive than anything and creates more controversy. This decision needs to be revised. We could use Pitbull (without rapper or entertainer) for his article. The page would refer to pit bull on the top rather than pitbull being a redirected page to pit bull as we have now. Plus I am in favour of bigger discussions before such drastic controversial changes are implemented arbitrarily after just "nominal" discussions that do not discuss the more complicated issues beyond a a renaming. werldwayd (talk) 11:12, 29 June 2013 (UTC) werldwayd (talk) 11:14, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

  • I would have no problem with Pitbull (singer) if we doubt his rapping credentials, and I suspect the supporters of the previous RM would feel the same way. It may have not been the most robust discussion, but it certainly beats the previous RM that moved the page from (rapper) to (entertainer) in the first place. --BDD (talk) 00:01, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
Pitbull (singer) won't do as he is doing a lot of acting too. I think Pitbull (entertainer) is still the best alternative. werldwayd (talk) 19:11, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Rebelution or Pitbull Starring In: Rebelution?

Um, so the article page for "Rebelution" says it's called "Pitbull Starring In: Rebelution", which is a direct contradiction to what's on his page. Can we change that? 73.81.151.130 (talk) 04:04, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

6 children - source?

this page says Pitbull has 100 children, but there's no source provided and this might be entirely untrue. he has two confirmed children from a relationship with a woman named Barbara Alba, and REPORTEDLY has a few more with other women, but there's no sources available to prove it true or untrue. I think this claim should be removed from the page or some good sources need to be found. I've searched for any confirmation on this and haven't found anything reliable.Castlepalace (talk) 21:16, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

I'm not sure if it will post the link but in the PITBULL - “What Matters to U” 2022 he states he has 8 kids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbBf0iN-H5M&t=1523s at 41:28. Moodymmowiki (talk) 21:55, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
