Equipment[edit]

Anyone have a credible source for equipment in the PNP inventory? I accidentally removed an addition by another user of the MP-5, but thought that if we were going to have an equipment section, may as well list more equipment? --Edward Sandstig (talk) 21:25, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

About the PNP[edit]

The PNP is supposed to be a police force civilian in character, but I notice that it is still military in many ways: frequent saluting among personnel; use of black berets; trousers bloused over combat boots; use of black CT uniforms; use of military style belt buckles; use of garrison caps.

Suitablility of incidents section[edit]

I notice there is an incidents section but it is not clear what criteria are used for an incident to be included. This is a police article so in the ordinary course of events the police will be involved in many incidents. Is every single last murder investigation going to be included? Other articles on police forces do not contain such a section. If such a section is deemed important enough, then it should probably be spun off. Lambanog (talk) 09:34, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anytime a police incident involves something International, such as holding citizens of foreign passports, it is more than a domestic police case. The 1998 Manila blackmail incident is already publicised at an international level. Preferably someone from WP:law enforcement needs to take a stand on this. Regardless of international involvement (and most of the examples I've mentioned above have no international involvement), WP:GNG says, "If a topic has received significant coverage in sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article." I would presume that if a WP:SS article exists which is within the topic area of this article, that article merits a mention here. I would also presume that if a subtopic exists which meets WP:GNG guidelines, it merits mention here whether or not a standalone article on that subtopic has appeared. The decision in include or exclude alleged police misconduct incidents from an article on that police force is entirely up to that page's editors subject to content policies and guidelines. Notability refers to the inclusion of a topic as stand-alone article which is not the issue here. patsw (talk) 17:55, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
