Reverting photographs to the article[edit]

I am reverting the recent edit which has deleted all the photographs of album covers due to fair-use problems. As of this time, whether it's a violation to use fair-use images in discographies is being debated, although current rules appear to allow this. Per WP:Album, "Some editors consider the use of image galleries in discographies an "unnecessary application" of fair use, although the practice is common and other editors see it as perfectly fair and reasonable (see e.g. Kylie Minogue discography or The Beatles discography)." As an editor who feels that an album cover is perfectly acceptable fair-use, considering the article is about the artist's works and includes a brief description of the album, its sales rankings, and popular singles, I don't think the photos should be blanket eliminated across the discographies, as is currently being done.

I know there's a debate about this happening at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Musicians/Article guidelines, but no consensus has been reached and the photos currently appear to be allowed to stay per the discussion. If policy or consensus say they should go, then they should go, but otherwise, why remove albums from an album discography without any discussion? Perhaps we should allow the debate to finish first before removing more photos?

See Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria #8. Fair-use images are not permitted in lists or galleries. Additionally see Wikipedia:Non-free content#Images which states that the album cover would need to be the subject of critical commentary in the article. As I mentioned on another page, I disagree, and would rather see consensus reached on this instead of carpetbombing all discographies. Prior discussions, such as this, show that proposals to remove images from discographies have failed. I have yet to see anything that says policy objectively states they should be removed (rule 8 uses a some subjective wording to demonstrate possibilities for use exist). --Ataricodfish 05:24, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

B-Side's[edit]

b-sides should not be included in a discography and the ones that are here are going to be remobed. see MOS:DISCOG Mister sparky (talk) 00:32, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Beach Baby?[edit]

I notice that one of the b-sides listed for "Both Sides of the Story" is "Beach Baby". I've never heard of Phil covering this song, and was unable to find it in a fairly comprehensive discography. If the single was actually backed with the original hit by First Class, can we at least make a notation that it's a non-Phil track, or better yet, remove it from the list of b-sides for that single? If it is indeed a Phil cover, I'd be interested to get a description/catalog# of the single it appeared on so I can grab a copy. MaxVolume (talk) 19:01, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do You Remember?[edit]

Shouldn't "Do You Remember?" be listed twice, first for the original release in 1990 and then a second time for the live version that came later? Since these are different recordings, I think that makes more sense, and that way, the single's first release would be shown as coming between "I Wish It Would Rain Down" and "Something Happened on the Way to Heaven," which I think would more accurately reflect Phil Collins' singles chart discography. The live version would stay where the song is currently located and chart peaks would be moved as appropriate. Ww adh77 (talk) 13:22, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Removal from featured lists[edit]

The discography no longer meets the standard of Wikiproject music. As for the faults, the discography contains more than 10 charts, and the table of guest appearances doesn't agree with the standard. Promotional singles[edit]

Hi, in theory the only official Phil Collins singles are those included in his 2017 compilation "The Singles", in theory those are the only ones considered official by him or by his record label. From that, "It Don't Matter To Me" would not be an official single. In addition, the Spanish Wikipedia collects a list of promotional singles not fully verified, at least not by me.
