Disambiguation[edit]

Surely there are other statues of Peter Pan / called "Peter Pan" (even Peter Pan (Columbus, Ohio)) -- should we somehow disambiguate this one from others? ---Another Believer _(Talk) 01:41, 9 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Another Believer: Given that there are multiple casts of this work, and following the example of Bust of Winston Churchill (Epstein) and Statue of Harriet Tubman (DeDecker), I'd suggest the title Statue of Peter Pan (Frampton). The section Peter Pan statue#Other sculptures (as opposed to "other casts") should be taken out and merged into Peter Pan#Public sculptures. I'm not keen on there being three different conventions in use for public sculpture – "Statue of Peter Pan (Frampton)", "Peter Pan statue (Frampton)" and "Peter Pan (Frampton)". The first style is intended for portrait sculptures of individuals in public places, according to the current draft wording at WT:VAMOS. That's not really what this sculpture is, so I now think I'd prefer Peter Pan (Frampton), along the same lines as Newton (Paolozzi), which is also in multiple versions. I did mean to interrupt your discussion here a while ago, but deleted the comment before I say something I regret. Let me just say, this statue was commissioned by Barrie. It is the Peter Pan statue. (And can someone please resurrect the reference formatting that someone removed. And it is a stump, not a trunk. And there is a plaque. I'm with Theramin on the sculpture commissioned by Barrie being the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, if we opt for the "Statue of Peter Pan" or "Peter Pan statue" phrasing. It's a sculpture in multiple editions (the one in London is the prime version) so Peter Pan (Frampton) is preferable to Peter Pan (London). Ham II (talk) 05:28, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
