That article seems to talk a lot about potential segregation in this Florida town. Very interesting, and nothing about this racism problem is in the article. Does anyone have any other sources worth putting in this article? - 66.92.73.52 21:02, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As a minority resident of Perry, Florida, I can tell you there's some level of "unconscious segregation" present, but only when it comes to where people live. I've never encountered any prejudice when it came to my patronage of businesses, friendships, or schooling, but I admit that when it came time for me to get a place of my own, I chose to stay in the "black" section of town, as did nearly all of my minority friends. I can't say this was a conscious decision, nor did I feel "pressured" into making such a decision... it was just something I decided.

As this would count as a personal anecdote and not even rises to the level of "original research", I will not add it to the article. Neither will I add anything about the constant sulfrous wood-pulp smell that contaminates the town and has made Perry, Florida notorious among other North-Florida communities. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.84.26.82 (talk) 20:08, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1970 Eclipse[edit]

Perry Florida was briefly the center of attention for the US during the total solar eclipse of 7 March 1970. A number of news agencies gathered there, although the results were disappointing due to cloud cover. It's not okay to keep adding long lists of information without sources, or to add opinions regarding the community's tolerance of LGBTQ people that don't impart any actual facts of encyclopedic merit.
