Metallic markers[edit]

I am interested in the history of metalic markers. Does anyone know in which year they were introduced? (The paint based metallic markers have existed for a long time. Sharpies's Alcohol based ones where introduced around 2006? But I think its irrelevant for this article) How about the practice of writing on ones self or others with sharpies and other permanent markers?

There are nowadays special CD markers which are designed to write on CDs without damaging them. They are finer than other permanent markers and also more permanent. Why not mention them in this article or make a seperate article on them? (The article specifies what type of marker damages CD's. These special markers are just the same Alcohol based markers repackaged with a finer tip.)

This article contradicts itself. It says that permanent markers damage cds, but sharpie permanent markers don't.

Does sniffing permanent markers really harm you? Not that I do it, but I've been told it does.

Yes, inhaling breathable air in your lungs can cause brain-damage or death. Same deal with oxegen, etc. ---J.S (T/C/WRE) 19:24, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gloves[edit]

"Gloves should also be worn to avoid absorption through the skin." This is a joke, right? --MQDuck 17:40, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe you could conduct an experiment by writing over your walls in permanent marker and seeing how long it is before you can wipe it off with a cloth. anemoneIprojectors 22:34, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese word "油性マーカー yusei-mākā" means Permanent marker.[edit]

<English>This page had been linked a Japanese Wikipedia by incorrect correspondence. en:Permanent marker is not equal to ja:マジックインキ. Because マジックインキ is a brand name. マジックインキ is not a common noun.
I corrected an error[1]. ja:油性マーカー is equal to en:Permanent marker. 油性マーカー is a common noun.
Please click here for example.->ACE Home > Housewares > Stationery . They translated a English word "permanent marker" into a Japanese word "油性マーカー".

<Japanese>このページと日本語版ウィキペディアのリンクは、正しい対応づけではありませんでした。en:Permanent markerは、ja:マジックインキと対になりえません。なぜならマジックインキは登録商標名だからです。マジックインキは普通名詞ではないのです。
この間違いを修正しました[2]ja:油性マーカーは、en:Permanent markerと対になります。油性マーカーは普通名詞です。
例えばこちらをご覧ください。->ACE Home > Housewares > Stationery . 業者が実際に「油性マーカー」という言葉を「permanent marker」の和訳として使っています。

CD/DVD surface[edit]

It's generally not advisable to use a permanent marker on a CD/DVD surface because the solvent might damage the CD/DVD. There are special CD markers which are water based. --MrBurns (talk) 07:31, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the sentence about CD/DVD surface because there is no source given and there is still no answer here. --MrBurns (talk) 11:32, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
