I believe this article would benefit from a re-write. There are a large number of quotes that make up the majority of some paragraphs. The language also does not seem fitting for an encyclopedia entry. 205.152.247.15 (talk) 17:44, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It says in a couple of places that they intended to go "north" on the Chesapeake and to get to New Jersey. Was there the intention of going over land from (say) Elkton, MD to the Delaware River? Or should it be south on the Chesapeake, and around the Delmarva peninsula? 70.131.48.56 (talk) 16:20, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This should be clarified within the article. It's clearly impossible to sail up the Chesapeake and reach New Jersey. Other sources say that the plan was to sail up the Chesapeake, go overland across the peninsula, and then sail again up the Delaware. Presumably the plan involved yet another vessel.
