An edit a few minutes ago lacked enough sources, which makes it look like original research. Please add reliable source references. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:44, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Flagged and tagged. This is a fairly new article and this various editors who will react to this and improve the referencing. Babakathy (talk) 09:40, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
l don't know what you mean by 'lack of sources' all the information is being there. For it to be created it went through stringent checks by different administrators.
Wikpedia is for people coming together with a common purpose freely to come help & maintain wikipeadia. The goal is defeated when editors to don't bother to read the attached references & citations with all the available information. Worse still to call work orriginal work' without being academics or researchers, especially when they edit 'citation needed' to information which is available in the references. Yes, the main part of editing is to add, subtract or modify slightly an article, especially if an article has already gone through the difficult task of going through articles of creation.
Yes we appreciate imroving the article, but l appreciate if editors could also cross reference with the references there for the information they needed, & one to add orrifginal research when the referencing clearly shows that it is not , & editors not being researchers or academics in the subject ,should be careful in doing that, thank you. Please do not misunderstand - this is a good article, and can be a great one - but each fact stated needs a reference, even if it is to the same source. I have done my best to do this. But some items are not there - for example on the Blackpool Scholarship, the Herald article says he did not get the place because of his colour - but it doesn't say who did get. It is of course fairly obvious it did go to a white man, but the Herald didn't say that so we don't have a reference to support it (or did his place go to a coloured, or an Asian?) The whole section on the liberation war has only one reference - the Newdsdezimbabwe article - and that article only talks about his role in business and in indigenisation. The material about his meetings with the pope and so on come from the Herald, which is not referenced in that paragraph - so I have added it. But each fact must be supported by a reference - otherwise it get's called "original research". None of the references talk about Herbert Chitepo, Moven Mahichi, Mayor Urimbo, Bernard Chidzero or his wife's nursing role in the war. We have no references on the job offers that he turned down either. So all of these statements need supporting references.
There's a comment post in the Newdsdezimbabwe article that talks of the use of his club as a venue, and liaison with the Dare at Gonakudzingwa but a comment by someone is not a reliable source - it is just what someone wrote, not a news article.
The article "Let us embrace indigenisation" does not even mention Mkondo by name so can't be used to say who worked on the indigenisation laws.
Mkondo made a major contribution to Zim history and our independence - for an encyclopedia article we need good reliable sources that do justice to him. Babakathy (talk) 19:27, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have tried very hard to find references for the statements on Mkondo's war service, but I could only find one. Babakathy (talk) 16:37, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia respects copyrights[edit]

Please do not copy-and-paste material found elsewhere on the web unless it has been published under a "free" license already. See Wikipedia:Copyright policy for details.

Even if you do find a news article that is published under a free license, it is still a good idea to re-write it, as such articles may contain text that is not suitable for Wikipedia as written. Examples of problems in already-published material include not having a neutral point of view, including too much irrelevant material, or not including enough context. Another problem is that the "style" or "tone" of the already-published material may be different enough from the existing Wikipedia article's text that the reader will find the transition between the existing text and the imported text to be jarring or otherwise difficult to read. By rewriting the text in your own words, all of these issues can be addressed before the change is saved. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 22:31, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
