Biograph's mention of "Don't Think Twice"[edit]

In cleaning up uses of italics and quotes for song titles and the like, I noticed that within a quote from the liner notes of Dylan's Biograph set, the title of the song "Don't Think Twice It's Alright" was in italics. When I went to correct this, an in-line note indicated that this was how it appears in the liner notes, meaning it shouldn't be changed. I disagree. The publisher of the liner notes is free to use whatever conventions or editorial style they want (for example, all capital letters or single quotes), but that does not compel us to follow suit, as long as what we publish is true to the original from a substantive standpoint. In other words, we have no responsibility to convey the aesthetics of the original, only the specific content. Allreet (talk) 19:16, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edits 6/21/11[edit]

First, the article is about Clayton, and most of the section about his relationship with Bob Dylan would be more appropriate to the latter's article, if anywhere. Vague hearsay ("another folksinger" from the Scaduto book) and speculative hearsay relative to the Mitchell and Dylan songs have no place in an encyclopedia - they are mere guesses in the cited sources and not especially important to Clayton's notability in any event. Clayton's homosexuality is sourced and covered earlier in the article; the Kornfeld quotation is superfluous and insignificant in the absence of an actual relationship. Given the breadth and importance of Clayton's career to actual folk music, the two sections on Dylan are easily conflatable into the single sourcable point about "Chickens/Don't Think Twice." (Also corrected the ref. to the actual source song, which was clearly not "Scarlet Ribbons.)Sensei48 (talk) 15:29, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
