Yo according to a March 2004 interview on the Redline Distribution site, it says that there is talk of some of Fall Out Boy's songs being used in a musical. Can a knowledgeable user let me know what is up with this? Xsxex 19:56, 16 January 2007 (UTC) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe that was a joke.

Dance Dance

Deleted this: I don't know what it means, but if you can figure it out, please clarify and put it back.

Travisl 02:22, 3 May 2006 (UTC) um...i belive they meant Parick did the Dancing in the music vid without a stunt double, but im just guessing..... i just think patrick stump rules & thats about all i wna say, oh and if i get famouse from my band the cooest kids @ spacecamp i better get to meet him or well you if you ever look yourself up —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.99.115.15 (talk) 15:02, 20 November 2007 (UTC) the only stunt doubles used for that music video was when the band had to play "the nerds", so stunt doubles played the band on stage. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.8.163.122 (talk) 02:27, August 26, 2007 (UTC)

Patrick Stump's obsession with Prince

here is the link to a video where Patrick tours L.A. in his civic hybrid: <http://youtube.com/watch?v=nwCmFH3Xz68> in this video he said that although he doesn't mind all the lies wikipedia writes about him, he is deeply disgusted by the fact that his obsession with Prince is not mentioned. He asks that you but it in here, so please put it in this article. Thanks a couple of dedicated fans —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thisis4patrick (talkcontribs) 18:16, July 2, 2007 Speaking of that interview, he is a David Bowie fan as well. Plus...a major fan of In-N-Out burger (not associated) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.8.163.122 (talk) 02:31, August 26, 2007 (UTC)

I just wanted to say, I have seen that video of him talking about the errors and that's why I came here. He said that he wasn't 'OK' with all of these errors but what he was really mad about what that you left out his obbsession with Prince. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.252.155.206 (talk) 20:51, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes. he said tenor was bad, prince was good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Myeyesburnow (talkcontribs) 03:18, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

In the original bio written here, it says Patrick was born in the suburb of Wilmette. He was not. He was born in another suburb, which currently slips my mind. Pete is from Wilmette. I changed his birthplace to simply "the suburbs of Chicago," which is technically correct, it is just not very specific. If anyone knows exactly what suburb he is from, please correct it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.166.16.28 (talk) 18:05, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

What does it matter that he likes Prince? Honestly, what? SHould we also know what kind of ice cream he likes? Boxers or briefs? Just because he wants it in his Wikipedia article, it shouldn't have to go in there unless it's relevant and not just random trivia. Metros232 17:31, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

no she's right!!! he says, on the video tht's on this page: http://www.buzznet.com/web/foe/tours/civic/featuredmedia/5548913/, that he is really obsessed with Prince and that he wishes wikipedia to write it on his page...go look!!! we both three saw it!!! (user didig32)

Ok, seriously. just because you spend your like whole freaking life on here, doesn't mean you get to decide what goes here or not. im really happy for you, you know, if you found a place to spend every goddamn minute, but seriously, not cool for you to tell me that what i said was irrelevant. isnt the whole point of wikipedia to spread information? because thats what i was doing. and saying its irrelevant just becuase its not strictly about his carrer or something like that is freaking bull. i have the interiew where he said he wanted that on his Wiki page. if you want the link all you have to do is ask.--Flippin.Skills

hes gotta point dudes ive seen the vid. patrick specifically asks for it to be put up that not only is he a massive david bowie fan, but he also loves prince. so if you trully consider yourself a fan you'll do as he asks. cos its not like he's asked us to put down he's the president of the usa although that wud be totally awsome lol. so comin from one major fan to god knows how many millions of other fans just put the gorram thing on the site please. and stop acting like a bunch of winning babies. wrote in the nicest possible way with the least amount of swearing as is humanly posible by tiffykins :P

"This is something I wanna clear up as long as there is a camera on me. Whoever is in charge of my wikipedia. Alright, whoever you are the major most egregious thing in there isn't that aparently I'm bisexual and have like twenty kids and um, that I learned everything I know from a sixteen year old who probably wrote that in himself. But the most egregious of all errors is that it says I am a massive David Bowie fan, which is true but it is a gross omission to leave out my obsession with Prince. Absolutely! So whoever you are, throw that in there, go for it. Now what? Make me 80 feet tall and make me a transexual but put in Prince."

I copied what Patrick Stump said word for word from the video of him giving a tour of LA. You can watch in on FOE, I don't know how to cite things on the internet but this is the weblink --> http://www.buzznet.com/web/foe/videos/foecontent/5548913/. It would be pretty awesome if who ever is in charge of editting this hunk of Wikipedia could mention that.

Stumph or Stump?

I am not sure if he has legally changed his last name to Stump, or if "Stump" is just a stage name. Either way, he goes by Stump, so please keep the bolded text as "Patrick Martin Stump."Spuddy 17 01:26, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

He has legally changed his name to "Stump" Therichhobo 08:34, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

He did change it legally? I just thought he used it as a stage name like ryan ross he really never changed it but he goes by it. He has never legally changed it. There is not citable source tcewyexo say that he has. Until there is a source, we can assume it is a stage name. It was originally 'Stumph' but he got tired of explaining how to say it, so he just dropped the H. His last name is Stumph, but because it looks like it would sound differently, he decided to make it stump before he joined the band so its less confusing. The German word Stumph is pronounced with an "F" sound at the end. Patrick's family pronounces it "Stump," hence to avoid pronunciation conflicts, he spells it phoenetically as a stage name . —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.8.163.122 (talk) 02:25, August 26, 2007 (UTC) I do not think Patrick legally changed his name, in several interviews with the band, in particular Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump/h they clarify that his name is "Stumph" but on stage Pete was calling him by the name of "Stump". As the band grew and more people heard them Patrick continued to usefuck you "Stump" as it was easier to pronounce and "less embarrassing". In an interview with Kerrang! September 2007 magazine when asked about his childhood dreams Patrick stated that "If i had thought fame was even a remote possibility, my last name would not still be Stump." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.173.131.26 (talk) 11:40, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Ghostface Killah

patrick does not guest on the ghostface killah song - it sounds nothing like him. seems prudent to wait until there is actually some sort of confirmation but it sounds nothing like him.

I've seen YouTube videos of an artist named "Popa Don" performing this song[1]. It seems like Popa Don is the featured artist on "The Prayer"; not Patrick Stump. --Harvard Birdman (talk) 17:13, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Producer

Would someone please add the following: In addition to albums by Hush Sound, Gym Class Heroes, and Cobra Starship, Stump has also produced remixes for the Sounds "Queen Of Apology remix" on the Snakes on a Plane soundtrack, for both "Dance Dance" (on the 12" dance single) and "Sugar We're Goin Down" (for the From Under the Cork Tree special addition) for Fall Out Boy, and "Pace Yourself" for the Higher. I've also heard (but we need to check sources on this) that he did a remix for a Japanese pop act called Chemistry. As far as I know, Patrick didn't produce Panic! At the Disco.pete did I could be wrong, so someone let me know. I'll delete it for now, but if I turn out to be wrong, it can be added back in. witchbaby 04:49, 18 May 2006 (UTC) Hey! I've never edited anything on Wikkipedia before so if Ive mucked this up sorry :D. As far as i no (and i may be wrong so i hope no one gets mad as i've seen many people are very protective of their fav bands), Patrick did not produce P!ATD. Mark Squire is their producer and Sean O'Keefe is Fall Out Boy. However they do have the same label and are good mates... which is maybe where the confusion has come from? Keep up the good work :D Patrick did NOT produce Panic! but the bass player Pete Wentz did, and they are on his record label Decaydance Pete Wentz did not produce Panic! At the Disco, nor did Patrick Stump. Matt Squire produced the album "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out," while yes, Sean O'Keefe produced Fall Out Boy's "Take This To Your Grave." However Neal Avron has produced Fall Out Boy's last two albums with the notable exception of Babyface on the songs "I'm Like A Lawyer..." and "Thnks fr th mmrs," and Butch Walker and Patrick Stump himself on "Don't You Know Who I think I Am?" off of Infinity on High can someone add this in? Guest vocals on "Don't Wake Me Up" (The Hush Sound), along with Hayley Williams of Paramore (note: Hayley Williams did not guest appear on the Hush Sound record. This is false) Guest vocals on "Second Chances" (October Fall) I think the instruments he plays should be made clearer: piano, drums, guitar (he learnt guitar after another FOB member dropped out just days before their first tour), etc. - aaliya -I agree however it would be simpler to say that he's a multi-instrumentalist as it's been shown he plays drums and trumpet as well. He also did guest vocals for "One and Only" by T-Pain, I think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.104.178.88 (talk) 05:35, 28 January 2008 (UTC) Fancy kid23 22:34, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Patrick added vocals to Cobra Starships "Guilty Pleasure" source Gabe Sporta(sexy) on Fuses "The Sauce" link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOMFpIfyGp4--Fancy kid23 22:38, 19 October 2007 (UTC) I've noticed that there is one more song that is not listed that Patrick is featured in, the song is called "Breathing Deep" which is by 504 Plan. Serious Cleanup

Folks, I am sorry, but this article needs some major cleanup. This is supposed to be an encyclopedia article, not a fan page. Could you imagine reading "He is a massive David Bowie fan" in the Britannica? No, it would say, "Stump has acknowledged David Bowie as a major influence." And it certainly wouldn't put these facts in the introduction. Or, in explaining synesthesia, using the phrase "which basically just means." The general tone is almost conversational. Introduction Paragraph

A quick thing to improve the introductory paragraph of this article can be to put his style/genre/notability into it. A super-quick summary of the entire article in the lead would be great as well. -- penubag  10:44, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

How about..

Patrick Stump (born Patrick Martin Stumph in April 27, 1984) is an American musician, composer and producer from Glenview, Illinois; son of an American Folk singer and brother to an accomplished violinist. He is mostly known for being the primary composer, lead singer, rhythm guitarist and occasional pianist for the American band Fall Out Boy. He has composed for three full-length albums (Take This to Your Grave, From Under the Cork Tree and Infinity on High), plus other Fall Out Boy albums, and has worked on some songs for Gym Class Heroes (cupid's chokehold and Clothes Off!), Cobra Starship (Viva La Cobra!), and others. His favorite quote is "Quiet IS the New Loud", and he is hugely obsessed with Prince.

I really think that the Prince comment should be left out of the intro. At the very least, change the wording of the sentence. It just comes out of left field. 70.191.119.77 (talk) 18:30, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Fall Out Boy Discography

Although Wikipedia states that Fall Out Boy's "Fall Out Boy's Evening Out with Your Girlfriend" was released in 2003, Allmusic says 2002. Tenor?

Patrick stated on MTV's Rock Block on 2/10/07 that "Wikipedia says I'm a tenor, which is physically impossible" If he's not a tenor, we might want to revise this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.242.77.19 (talkcontribs) 15:13, February 11, 2007 Finaly he is NOT a TENOR please change this!!!!

Patrick must be a falsetto...tenors definitely can't get that high (voice wise) And his voice gets pretty damn high... 66.31.128.107 07:44, 24 June 2007 (UTC)Amesworth Have you heard him talk??? its like he has two different voices!! i'm betting he was joking...and most people sound different when they talk compared to when they sing. ever heard mariah carey speak? Bouncehoper 04:12, 6 August 2007 (UTC) I think either way, it's speculative at best to guess his most comfortable range. He hits high notes but he could just as easily be a lucky Baritone. I'd say we simply leave this out unless someone finds hard facts. he is a tenor, there is nothing impossible about it, hes only joking. i always wondered why he said that. why would he joke about that, doesnt make sense. you cant be a'falsetto' that is just a style of hitting high notes, instead of using head voice. it means 'false soprano'. he suprisingly doesnt use it that much at all, although he is very good at it. dont believe me, look at a fall out boy tablature or sheet music with lyrics. blank out the other notes and play back the lyrics. you'll find they predominantly occur in the tenor range. although he does get high, he admits himself, when he sings high his voice only grew into it, because he never sang or had lessons before. what more can i say, he is one of the best vocalists around today!220.239.248.35 (talk) 17:02, 15 January 2008 (UTC) concerning 220.239.248.35's comments above. Yep. Right on. Xsxex (talk) 15:35, 13 March 2008 (UTC) Patrick's range is between mid to high baritone, with the occasional falsettos. he may have been joking about the tenor, or may have stated that he can reach the tenor range. but as of now, Patrick usually uses the mid-baritone for singing.

Patrick is a classic baritone. He easily hits an A2 at the beginning of Disloyal Order, which would be an extremely difficult feat for a tenor to do without using vocal fry. He belts easily up to an A4 (during the "imperfect boys" line of Disloyal Order) before needing to use falsetto support, which gets him up to C#5 (during the I Don't Care bridge). He hits falsetto notes up to around G#5 (during the Gold Standard bridge). A tenor would be belting notes up to a C5, hitting supported notes up to probably around an E5, and hitting falsetto notes in the C6 range. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.124.219.164 (talk) 05:05, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Biography

It's not right that it shows Fall Out Boy as 2001-present. Although they have not broken up and are on a hiatus the band themselves aren't doing anything together. we can always create a fourth section after "Solo project" for when FOB get back reform but untill then it should be structured chronologically; like an actual biography. Jonjonjohny (talk) 13:04, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

That works too, but they don't need to "reform" because they never broke up. Noreplyhaha (talk) 05:46, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

fansite tag

I propose we keep the main discussion on Talk:Fall_Out_Boy#fansite_tag, but here are a few examples specific to this article:

 • Stump has been credited for being a soulful vocalist[1] suitable for R&B,[2] as well as one of the best voices in pop punk.
 • He has collaborated with an extensive lists of artists
 • The album is the ultimate solo project
 • His solo work is a major musical departure from the pop punk sound of Fall Out Boy
 • His influence by Michael Jackson and Prince among many other artists is evident through his soulful electronic sound,

Early Life (Family)

The article states that he has a younger sister and an older brother. This information is not correct since he explicitly corrected wikipedia on his twitter: SOURCE. There he says that he is 'the youngest of three'. Since I don't have the ability to change the entry I'd be thankful for someone else to do it. I also checked the named source at this part of the article and I couldn't find anything about his siblings on that page.

Needs more sources!

There is a lot of information on this article that is unsourced. I'm trying to find sources for the unsourced content. If somebody could help that would be great. Bowling is life (talk) 20:08, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

Vocal Style

The section on Stump's vocal style is un-referenced opinion; it should be either referenced or removed.

1. I fixed this. I found a source for this section so it is no longer unsourced. This is the source I found: http://www.divadevotee.com/2015/05/vocal-profile-patrick-stump.html?m=1

the Star Vs episode Stump guest starred in, Face the Music, actually aired in 2017, not 2016. Stump also voiced Ruberiot in two Season 3 episodes: "King Ludo" and "Toffee" (These episodes also aired in 2017.)

Stump also stars in the Teen Titans Go special "The Day the Night Stopped Beginning to Shine and Became Dark Even Though It Was the Day ". 66.69.209.242 (talk) 22:53, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

This links to a disambiguation page. Would someone please source Patrick's birth location and then fix it? Anthony Rupert 04:02, 26 June 2007 (UTC) Patrick has lived in Glenview Il his whole life but there is no evidence that he was born there. There are other major hospitals in larger suburbs (such as Evanston). I'd suggest if anyone has any means of checking that they do so.

Def Jam
