Date of death[edit]

The date of death was originally sourced to an ESPN article, which clearly states that the death was on Sunday. However, it is likely that they picked up the reference to Sunday from the first press released issued by FIBA. That press release was issued as quickly as possible, and prior to ascertaining the exact time of death. The first press release makes reference to Sunday but if you read carefully it says "…FIBA on Sunday confirmed the passing of Patrick Baumann…". Note that Sunday is the date of the confirmation, not the date of death. People followed up with a more in-depth, press release, which clearly states that the date of death October 13: "Mr Baumann passed away on October 13."

When we have two different sources citing different dates, it is common to look to other sources but I don't think that's necessary in this case. ESPN, and possibly some other sources initially reporting on this plausibly picked up on the confirmation date and took it as the death date.

I've made the changes to the article.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:37, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Choosing a suitable photo[edit]

@Nightscream: FIBA has provided two options for a photo for the INFOBOX. (They are the copyright holder and a permission statement is in progress). I would like some feedback (from anyone) on which option is preferable. I'd also like some feedback whether a tighter crop would be suitable in either option.

  • Left They're both mostly equally good, but I learn a tiny bit more to the one on the left because the smile is more easily discernable at a glance at thumbnail size. Nightscream (talk) 18:02, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    Nightscream, Thanks S Philbrick(Talk) 18:13, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
