Most Famous?[edit]

This is a POV. Outside Italy Siena's may be the most famous palio, but I don't believe that is true within Italy. I propose to change this to 'oldest palio', which at least has a documented source. Also: 'surrounding countries'? Can anyone substantiate the claim that Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland or France have a single palio? Absent any objections, I will delete this reference to surrounding countries. Piedmont (talk) 17:11, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect Siena’s is the best known palio outside Italy (i.e. in the world), but I am sure your suggestions would improve the article! Ian Spackman (talk) 20:11, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The Oldest Palio of Italy is from Ferrara(1259) vs Asti(1275) — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheRagMan (talkcontribs) 15:49, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Donkeys[edit]

There is a donkey palio ("Palio Degli Asini") in Abruzzo, in the town of Navelli. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navelli

I believe it has been running annually since 1980. 64.62.37.130 (talk) 17:47, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
