Regarding sources on Pakistani drama[edit]

Moved from User talk:DBigXray

Hi, DBig. So an IP user added this information after I removed the same for lack of citation. Please note that neither of the sources mention the information for which they have been cited. The first does not establish the show as Pakistan's first TV drama and the latter does not establish it as its longest running TV drama. Neither do they establish episode count. I have exhausted my 3RR on the article. Could you please look into this? --Tamravidhir (talk) 12:16, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User:Tamravidhir I can see that the ref1 states one of the oldest, so it fails. Ref2 says longest so it looks acceptable. Please elaborate your concern. I will tag the article. --DBigXray 15:06, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure if it is established per WP:RS that Khuda Ki Basti is the oldest Pakistani drama. --Tamravidhir (talk) 15:50, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
User:Tamravidhir The RS doesnt call it as oldest, so I suggest removing it. regarding the longest, It can possibly stay, what is your suggestion on both ? --DBigXray 08:52, 13 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DBigXray: I don't see this article as serving any purpose of a reliable source. Further, this article only calls the show to be the "longest running sitcom" not the longest running Pakistani drama. Plus, they are silent on if the longest is on the basis of episode count or running duration. Further, Khuda Ki Basti is also not established as the oldest Pakistani TV drama, but merely as "one of the oldest". Te sources are very vague. IMO, they both should be removed. --Tamravidhir (talk) 06:03, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Two new sources: This source establishes that the show is in its eighth season and in this source it is the cast of the show itself, not the publication, who is claiming for it to be Pakistan's longest TV show. --Tamravidhir (talk) 06:08, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Valid points. In the absence of a clear source. I guess, I agree that these be removed. If someone wants to add it back, please feel free but provide reliable sources as discussed above. --DBigXray 06:09, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Concur. --Tamravidhir (talk) 06:21, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipidea needs RS to prove the comments. Regarding oldest, i've changed it to "One of Pakistan's oldest" instead of just "Oldest" which was unverified earlier and whenever any one will search in reliable sources about longest running Pakistani drama then the result popped up will be Bulbulay. The Express Tribune, The News International all are reliable sources and clearly mentiones about what i inserted in the article. 122.8.18.76 (talk) 16:52, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And one more point, if their cast mentions about it as longest then you can see where they are claiming? Its reputed news interview not something gossip site etc and at the end the news is published by The Express Tribune publication team and both (cast and publications) are humans. What did we want more? 122.8.18.76 (talk)
You had no consensus here to make the changes to the article. Please note that your edits amount to be disruptive and you may be blocked for the same per Wikipedia's policy. Please also refer to the 3RR rule of Wikipedia. --Tamravidhir (talk) 08:43, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The consensus stands that the comment of the cast does not amount as a reliable source and there is no such source to establish the notability of both shows. As long as this consensus stands edits contrary to it amount as disruptive editing which may attract a block. To know how to build a consensus please refer to WP:CONSBUILD. --Tamravidhir (talk) 08:45, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • IP 122.8.18.76 please discuss first, AS Tamra noted above there are issues about reliable sources. Some of the sources are of questionable reliability. unless you address these first please do not add it into the article. --DBigXray 10:02, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok the longest running section is removed but oldest one is proven by Dawn (newspaper) and you must respect others opinion too. I am working right now about old ones and will add each and every detail of history but till then it is sourced which i currently added 122.8.20.202 (talk) 13:51, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
122.8.18.76: More about respecting others' opinion it's about saying no to original research, adhering to verifiability, and building consensus per Wikipedia policies. Irrespective, thanks for assuming good faith. The current inclusion of information seems good. Would be looking forward to further expansion of the article. --Tamravidhir (talk) 17:49, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
