How should theatres be named for link purposes? i.e., Teatro alla Scala (also La Scala) of Milan, should better be La Scala, Milan or La Scala theatre or La Scala theatre, Milan, or something else?

I am not sure how historically accurate the following text is:
- Wagner rejected the format of traditional opera, which consisted of relatively quiet recitatives accompanied by basso continuo, interspersed with aria pieces accompanied by the full orchestra — with a pause after each aria to accommodate enthusiastic applause by the audience. Instead, Wagner pioneered a through-singing style in which recitative and aria blend into one another, and are constantly accompanied by the orchestra, with applause taking place only between acts.
Rececitives disappeared from opera long before Wagner. Didn't Gluck initiate the process? -- Viajero 19:44 27 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Does everyone really like the thumbnail-sized image with the blank white space, as recently resized by User:Dmn? I often feel out of step. Was something wrong with the good-looking format? Or is there some point to the interference I don't get? 09:39, 29 Jul 2004 (UTC)

- On my browser I don't see any white space; it seems the resize got rid of excessive pixellation, so it's an improvement, unless we can get a higher quality image. Anyone else? Antandrus 14:54, 29 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Should Mozart be listed under the Baroque period? I thought the conventional cutoff for Baroque was the death of Bach in 1750, and that Mozart was part of the Classical period. Does the terminology differ for opera? -- LBK 18 Nov 2004
- You are correct--there's no opera composer more central to the Classical music era than Mozart. I inserted a quick fix. Really this article needs to be hugely expanded; it's one that people haven't gotten around to yet. Antandrus 17:53, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
The "Origins" section does not flow chronologically. Melodrama is introduced without transition or definition. Head paragraphs to summarize each section, and a head sentence to summarize each paragraph would be helpful. GCW

With an overture, different acts, drama, music, costume, story, what's the difference between Opera and Musical? -- <ANON>
Generally a Opera contains no (or incredibly little) dialogue and the whole thing is done is song. Rock Opera's do exist for example, but they are different from rock musicals because the Dialogue is enclosed within song 202.134.33.91 05:58, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
Songs
I posted 5 songs from Wikipedia:sound/list. There are a couple of things I'd like to address:
- I added the songs in a media section at the end of the list. As this article is organized chronolocailly, a better way of doing it would be to break up the section and put each song with its relavant historical period.
- There are more songs at Wikipedia:sound/list that could have gone into this article. Others should feel free to add them. Raul654 02:24, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
