1862?[edit]

Erm... just wondering how a team that plays a sport that began in 1895 can have been founded in 1862? --Shirt58 (talk) 03:18, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Like a lot of Rugby League teams, particularily in England, it was a Rugby Union side previous to 1895. This is a re-establishment as a Rugby League club, in 2011. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.21.176.232 (talk) 05:36, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The original Oneida Football Club played "football" before any kind of formal rules for soccer, rugby or American football were set down. This rugby league team is just named after the original club.--Cúchullain t/c 13:03, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Date again[edit]

As I said elsewhere, this team is not the same as the historical Oneida Football Club. They are just named after them. Unless we have an independent reliable source saying otherwise (not a source from the team or the league), we need to go with the 2011 date.--Cúchullain t/c 15:38, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
