Merger proposal[edit]

I propose to merge Cowhill, Gloucestershire into Oldbury-on-Severn. I think that the content in the Cowhill, Gloucestershire article can easily be explained in the context of Oldbury-on-Severn, and the Oldbury-on-Severn article is of a reasonable size that the merging of Cowhill, Gloucestershire will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned. — Rod talk 19:05, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As there were no objections I have now done the merge.— Rod talk 13:59, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Remove speculative nuclear proposals[edit]

I have removed speculative nuclear proposals without references as detailed information with references is provided in the Oldbury power station Wiki article.

In place I added a little information referring to the iron age fort in the village, with reference.

Needs expanding[edit]

The article needs expand as it has little useful information, such as etymology of the name and history.

Wrt the etymology of the name. As there is an iron age camp in the village and the name bury is often applied to iron age and Roman camps, from the Saxon meaning stronghold, presumably this was used as a stronghold in Saxon times but the occupants moved at some point and this became Old Bury. Old maps (1888-1913) show the iron age camp as a Roman camp, but also show a Roman camp on the hill surrounding the church.
