Article can be shortened[edit]

It would benefit by less lengthy quotes from primary sources, as it is supposed to be an encyclopedia article. Citations are supposed to be made in-line according to wikipedia format.--Parkwells (talk) 21:56, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Which election?[edit]

This is an interesting article about a historical figure I was unfamiliar with. I am curious though, does anyone know which election was taking place on the day he died? It says he was killed on 'Election Day, October 10, 1871', but List of elections in 1871#United States doesn't list anything for Pennsylvania that year.
