merge notice & possible copyvio[edit]

Going by Wikipedia conventions, I think it is ideal to retain O. V. Vijayan rather than O.V.Vijayan. One surprising thing is that both the articles have the same text in the main body - Verbatim. wonder if there is a copyvio. If u hv an idea, pls. help. I'd wait for another week before comments and then do the merging with O.V.Vijayan retained as a re-direct page. --Gurubrahma 06:19, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the suggestion about merging.--Sahodaran 06:54, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Been a week. I agree with the merge.--Banana04131 00:28, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Reg Khasakh[edit]

I must admit that the "transcendental view" adopted in interpreting Khasak was a bit of a surprise to me. This approach has its merits, but I have always approached this surreal novel from the materialist's perspective. That is how one derives the maximum out of this novel. Everything, right from the first descriptions of Thasrak (amalgamated in the fantastic Khasak) to Maimoona's sensuality to Ravi's death, is surreal, it's almost like the dream from a sultry morning. Ravi's death — which is foretold in the prophetic utterances that span space and time — is a logical necessity as well, there being no meaning to his life. Ravi has lived an extraordinary life, a poetic life, a life of a hero, an epic life: he has lived life as one wuld have it from a history book, a book of heroes. This explains the title, and this material view brings the novel into its sublime realm. I believe Ravi did not die searching; he died because there were no problems left.

Much as I would like to recompile this article, especially with regard to Khasak, Dharmapurananm and Gurusagaram, it would completely destroy the present structure of the work, whcih is one of reverence, not just admiration. Vijayan was a sublime artist, regardless of the medium in which he expressed himself, someone who managed to find meaning in the most mundane things... and yet, his studied calm was not always effortless, and I find more reasons to admire him than revere him. §--Zeinab 20:12, 24 June 2006 (UTC)§

Fair use rationale for Image:Khasak.jpg[edit]

Image:Khasak.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Biography[edit]

I think the current version of the biography, is a mixture of many things. It contains his life, his literary works, and even commentaries / opinions on his work. We should think about separating it.

I am changing the title to "Biography" instead of "Brief Biography" to be consistent with Wikipedia style. Also separating it out into three sections- Early Life, Literary Career and Death. Anup (talk) 09:43, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reference[edit]

The article lacks credible references to many statements, which can be construed as personal opinions. I have marked them with citation needed. Please help add some references or point out some sources, so that I can add them. Anup (talk) 09:57, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
