Please see the Minhag article which also discusses Nusach. Perhaps a merger...? Fintor 06:13, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think this article can be expanded a bit: it can then be the "main article", with a brief summary given in the relevant paragraph of "Minhag. Perhaps it should also say more about the musical meaning. --Sir Myles na Gopaleen (the da) 09:55, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not to be too keen on it, but it is unclear to me what this page should be called 'Nusach' when the standard pronunciation of this word in Hebrew is Nosach. I have also never heard the word Nusach used in relation to the musical tradition used to chant the prayers, by anybody of any tradition. Bilditup1 (talk) 03:52, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have frequently. A Google search yields http://www.chazzanut.com/nusach/mp3s/, http://www.virtualcantor.com/ and http://www.jmwc.org/jmwc_nusach.html on the first page. All these use the spelling "nusach", and all relate to the musical meaning. --Sir Myles na Gopaleen (the da) (talk) 09:13, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting proposal[edit]

I propose that this article be split into two, seeing as the term Nusach has two distinct meanings (as explained in the article). In my opinion, these new articles should be called Nusach (Jewish custom) and Nusach (Jewish music). There should also be a disambiguation page, basically containing the content of the introduction of this article. WikiMaster111 (talk) 03:34, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support – I agree with this. It's not clear for which topic is this article. This should be split between service (custom) nusach and musical nusach. Idustinmichael (talk) 15:34, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - I don't think Nusach (Jewish music) has enough substance so far, and it is useful for people speaking of one kind of nusach to be aware of the other. Ar2332 (talk) 20:00, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I change my mind to Support after discovering Jewish prayer modes. Now I think there is enough material for a separate article. Ar2332 (talk) 12:34, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
