I will review this. For such a big article. This may take a few days and several rounds of comments. So please bear with me. The C of E God Save the King! (talk) 10:26, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • The Global Enterprises sentence in the lead is a run-on sentence and should be broken up.
    • I broke up that sentence with specifying that Steinbrenner bought the team from CBS (see [1]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 12:43, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Arguably the most successful professional sports team in the United States and one of the most highly regarded," - WP:WEASEL
    • I removed "highly regarded" to only include the team success based on championship wins and alike (see [2]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 12:47, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • How could Johnson declare major league status if the NL had already said no?
    • It seems as if Johnson just did not agree with the NL's demands regarding their agreement. I reworded that sentence to reflect that (see [3]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 13:07, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • What relevance does Joseph Gordon have to the Gordon Highlanders (apart from the same name), was his father in it or something?
    • According to multiple sources, that name was a nod to Gordon's Scottish heritage and nothing more than that. -- LuK3 (Talk) 13:38, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Why did the newspapers call them the "Invaders"?
  • Is there a source for the sentence stating the Highlanders name falling out of use?
  • The article mentions Hilltop Park's lease expired but theres no mention of there being one earlier. Was it built and then leased to the Highlanders or did they own it?, sell it and lease it back and from whom?
  • Why were the Yankees kicked out of the Polo Grounds?
    • I found a source that stated the Giants manager was upset with the Yankees attendance and number of home runs so he decided to evict them (see [6]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 11:55, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Why were they called Murderers' Row?
    • Added a sentence regarding the history of the nickname (see [7]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 11:57, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • What other teams voted against the establishment of the amateur draft?
    • The I added the Mets, Dodgers, and Cardinals as the 3 others teams (see [8]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 11:54, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • In the 1981 section, Shea Stadium is WP:OLINKed as its already linked earlier when it talks about the Mets moving from the Polo Grounds.
    • I removed the subsequent wikilinks (see [9]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 12:02, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • "the Yankees were 14+1⁄2 games behind the Red Sox" - linking the Yankees and Red Sox like that is a little confusing
  • I know you're linking to teams seasons, rather than the actual team, but it does get a little misleading when the links on team names go to the season page. It should be made clearer.
    • I tried to standardize the team's wikilinks to just link to the team's main article (see [11]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 12:13, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Aaron Boone has been double linked in Baby Bombers when he was already linked earlier
  • DJ LeMaiheu needs linking at first mention
  • Murderers Row has also been double linked in the nickname section
  • Logos and uniform section is just a hatnote
    • In the process and writing a subsection for uniforms and logos. -- LuK3 (Talk) 16:37, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Polo Grounds double-linked in Fans and why the sudden inclusion of V at the end?
  • I removed the link (see [15]). The reason for the "V" was because the Polo Grounds were actually different stadiums. -- LuK3 (Talk) 02:15, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • It would help to clarify that Barcelona, Real Madrid and Man Utd are association football clubs. Likewise that the Cowboys are an American football club
  • Old Yankee Stadium and Monument Park are double linked again in the Retired Numbers
    • Removed links (see [17]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 02:15, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • There are several multiple links in that section (Gehrig, Rivera, MLB etc)
  • Rivalries section, more double links on the teams mentioned earlier
  • Subway Series, has it been mentioned why the games are called that, is there a direct subway link between the teams?
  • WP:OLINK on repeated references to MLB Advanced media, NY Times etc.
    • I was under the impression each reference is considered standalone and therefore links for publications provide context. -- LuK3 (Talk) 01:45, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Source 36, no page number
    • Reference states pages 9–14. -- LuK3 (Talk) 01:45, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Source 41, no page number
    • I used the {{rp}} template, it is page 18. -- LuK3 (Talk) 01:45, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Society of American Baseball Research sources, OLINK
  • Source 151, no page number
  • Source 158 and 224, CBS shouldn't be italicised as it isn't a print source
  • Sources 191 and 192, MLB the same as above
  • Source 205, no page number
  • Sources 214 and 218, MLB italicised again
  • Source 227, error in linking the Vindicator
    • It looks like a Google News
      • I changed the link, let's see if that works (see [26]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 23:40, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Source 237, MLB italicised
  • Source 240, no page number
    • I'm seeing page 356 in the reference. -- LuK3 (Talk) 01:47, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Source 245, no link to online source
    • I could not find an online source unfortunately, I'll continue to look for an accessible source. -- LuK3 (Talk) 01:47, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Source 253, several souces in one footnote
  • Source 254, CBS italicised (It seems to be the same for all of CBS and MLB references so I'll mention all those in here to save repetition)
    • Fixed the CBS references (see [29]) and the MLB references (see [30]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 00:15, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Source 285, same issue as 253
  • ESPN (non magazine), also seems to have italicisation issues
  • Source 414, no date
  • Source 440, no accessdate
  • Source 454, no page number
  • Source 466, that source mentions the Bleacher Creatures doing homophobic chants, but that isn't included in the article when it should be mentioned they made a little more than a hostile environment towards opposition players.
    • Added a mention of homophobic chants (see [36]). -- LuK3 (Talk) 02:15, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Source 485, isbn number isn't consistent with the rest of the article and no page number
  • Source 492, no page number
    • It looks like pages 193–197 are cited using the {{rp}} template. -- LuK3 (Talk) 02:15, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Source 607, 608, 612, 618 and 619 they're looking like footnotes rather than references there.
    • I changed the references to {{sfn}} footnotes. -- LuK3 (Talk) 02:15, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • @LuK3:, that concludes my review. A little exhaustive I know! Please ping me when you've had a chance to have a look at the points i've raised and I'll go over it again. I won't mark it as on hold and start the 7 day timer just because I know this could take a little while with such a big article. The C of E God Save the King! (talk) 11:19, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
      • Thanks The C of E for the thorough review. I believe I addressed all of your points. Feel free to ping me back if I did miss anything. -- LuK3 (Talk) 02:15, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
