Disputed claim[edit]

The Biltmore Forest School also is claimed to be the first forestry school in North America. Both claims cannot be true. Both institutions apparently were founded in 1898. But which came first? DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 20:59, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This claim is also made for/ by a third school, the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, founded in 1900. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 11:16, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Material added[edit]

Material on forestry studies at Cornell after 1903 previously in the History of the New York State College of Forestry has been added here, a more appropriate place. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 20:35, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edits for clarity, redundancy, consistent timeline[edit]

I've made a number of edits for clarity, redundancy & consistent timeline. Also removed several insertions that were not directly related to this article, including one quote from an op-ed piece in 2009. Further editing remains to be done on this article, in my opinion. But it is coming along... DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 08:54, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Recommended spin-off article[edit]

On the talk page of the related History of the New York State College of Forestry, I've suggested creating a new article on the Brooklyn Cooperage lawsuit and trial. A lot of good material in this article on that topic. A new article could help streamline this article, too. The Brooklyn Cooperage lawsuit and trial are interesting and noteworthy in themselves. New, spin-off article created: People v. the Brooklyn Cooperage Company. Contributions welcome! With this new article, perhaps the present article can be streamlined a bit. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 13:18, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
