Picture links to home-based host?

Should the pictures provided here be linked from the article? Given that dyndns.ws most likely points to a home user's website, is that reliable enough to link from the article? Moreover, should the Candlewood photo really be in the New Fairfield article?

Steven Novella in New Fairfield?

I see that Steven Novella was added here as a notable person. However, his residence on his Wikipedia page is listed as Hamden. Does anyone have any sourcing that he's in New Fairfield, or is it that he was born in New Fairfield? Thanks. SageRad (talk) 12:43, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Election table

@Magnolia677:, just curious about the removal of the presidential election results table. I see that WP:USCITIES does not specifically call for the inclusion of such information. However, the table was well formatted and sourced, and I for one thought it was an appropriate and informative visualization of that information. WP:USCITIES is just a guideline, so I don't see why the table needed to be removed. Let me know what you think! Mbdfar (talk) 03:16, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

@Mbdfar: These historic presidential election tables have been popping up on several city articles. My concern is that they add undue weight per WP:UNDUE. Do readers of the New Fairfield, Connecticut article really want to know which presidents the citizens of New Fairfield voted for back to the 1800s? Because this is a settlement-related article, would it be appropriate to also include the historic mayors? What about which governors were favored? These enormous lists of historic presidential results seem out-of-scope and unnecessary. I welcome your opinion, and the opinion of the wider community. Magnolia677 (talk) 10:48, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

@Magnolia677 I find your argument null & void. The table goes back to 1956 at the latest as opposed to your “Back to the 1800s” claim. (Please refrain from embellishing) Your removal is based on your personal opinion and feelings. It is useful to many. @Magnolia677: To answer your questions, if the content was sourced and formatted appropriately, I don't personally have an issue with multiple lists. I think displaying election results has encyclopedic value and can provide insight into the demographics of the town and how the party politics of an area have changed over time. However, I understand having lists pertaining to every electable position would be unwieldy. I think at the very least showing historic presidential election results as an umbrella for the political leanings of a settlement is valuable and worth keeping. Making the lists collapsible is a great way to keep the article from being cluttered while retaining this information for those who want it. Mbdfar (talk) 23:11, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Selectman or select board?

Wanted to discuss recent edit by @AirportExpert , every other New England town from my experience under government type it’s listed as Selectman - Town meeting. Just curious as to why you chose to change Selectman to Select board ? Maybe all other towns should be changed too if you’re correct in your assessment. Thanks for reaching out to discuss. If someone is unfamiliar with local government in New England, the term "Select board" may better represent how the town's executive arm is structured. The term "Selectman" is singular, and doesn't acknowledge the other people who sit on the board (besides the First Selectman/woman). Saying "Board of Selectmen-Town meeting" would clear things up too, but this is less concise and has the same meaning as "Select board". The linked Wikipedia article is also titled Select board, so calling it this seems like the most straightforward approach. AirportExpert (talk) 22:41, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
