Very Bizarre[edit]

Well this is as bizarre as it gets. Here we have an WP article, with a link to an article in a reputable historical journal in the External Links section. What is bizarre, is that the linked article in the reputable historical journal specifically and expressly proves various assertions in the WP article to be myths. Possibly I will get around to doing something about it, if I can find the time. Hi There (talk) 19:29, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speculation re: Mark Twain pseudonym[edit]

In the Kansas Historical Society article linked to here, it says that Judson used the nautically-inspired "Ned Buntline" pseudonym at least as early as 1844. The Wikipedia article on Mark Twain says that Samuel Clemens, born twenty years after Judson, first used the riverboat-navigation-inspired pseudonym "Mark Twain" in 1863. Has there ever been any suggestion that Clemens was inspired by Judson in his choice of pseudonyms? Don Argus jr (talk) 18:56, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Buntline Special[edit]

I removed the last paragraph - a perusal of the Guns Magazine for the year 2007 showed no article of that name. Massad Ayoob was a regular contributor during that time period, so he could have written such an article. Possibly it was in a different month, however until someone can produce documentation showing that the article existed, that paragraph should remain deleted. See:

Intro[edit]

Too much prominence is given to the (apocryphal?) story of the Buntline Special in the introduction, and the same information is given in a separate section, below. I copied some information to that section and deleted the rest from the intro. Jwicklatz (talk) 04:41, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
