note[edit]

I do not believe that this article should be merged with laparoscopic surgery. NOTES and laparoscopy are completely separate techniques. Granted, the article needs work, but this will be an increasingly important topic in surgery in the next few years and it definitely deserves its own article. Shouldn't be merged at all. NOTES is definitely a hot topic right now. Reddy is unreal -- 74.12.81.212 07:07, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if it's worth mentioning, but a transgastric appendicectomy was performed for the first time in Europe this week by a surgical team at Sahlgrenska University Hospital East. --Krm500 (talk) 12:50, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Transluminal versus Translumenal[edit]

According to the NOSCAR definition of the term NOTES the acronym stands for
Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery
-going beyond the margins of a lumen (= hollow organ)-. "Transluminal" with an internal "i" instead of an "e" seems to be a popular but wrong and illiterate variation. It is highly recommended to also change the headline of the article accordingly to "Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery". --Hegauausblick (talk) 13:30, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Even I was suprised that it's written with "e" I can understand the statement. The article should be consecvent because this way it's very confusing! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.6.138.54 (talk) 09:31, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

translumenal[edit]

And how about a separate article just explaining the term "translumenal" alone, rather than as part of a long phrase? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.68.150.155 (talk) 20:10, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
