Brandegee Estate[edit]

#45 Brandegee Estate
October 17, 1985,
280 Newton St. {{coord|42|21|21.60|N||71|10.64|W|name=Brandegee Estate}}

This entry has a mangled location; the "71" should be the degrees, and presumably the "10.64" should be the seconds, so the minutes are missing.

If you look at the location, it's really close to the Norfolk/Suffolk county line; if you go to http://www.nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com/ma/state.html, you'll see that it's listed in both counties, and http://www.nr.nps.gov (the official National Register database) does likewise. Therefore, I'd guess that the estate itself spans both counties. Who knows, perhaps the estate house has been destroyed; there are many such properties in the NRHP database. Boston neighborhoods vs. possibly non-Boston parts of Suffolk County[edit]

Municipalities of Suffolk County

I think Roxbury is a neighborhood in Boston, so the one entry for it should be in the Boston table, not separate. Are there any parts of Suffolk County, including any NRHPs, that are not part of Boston? If so, then a National Register of Historic Places listings in Boston, Massachusetts ought to be split out of this county-wide table, leaving those behind. And, methinks the Boston list ought to include a sortable column for neighborhood, so that all the Roxbury ones, etc., might be seen together. List of RHPs in Baltimore, List of RHPs in Chicago and other cities are done that way. doncram (talk) 18:01, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See the map for the four cities of Suffolk County: Boston (red), Chelsea (yellow), Revere (green), and Winthrop (blue). Nyttend (talk) 18:15, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, i see that now. There were separate tables for:
  1. 1 Boston
  2. 2 Charlestown (not a sep city, but rather a neighborhood of boston)
  3. 3 Chelsea (a sep city)
  4. 4 Dorchester (not a sep city, but rather a neighborhood of boston)
  5. 5 Jamaica Plain (not a sep city, but rather a neighborhood of boston)
  6. 6 Revere (a sep city)
  7. 7 Roslindale (not a sep city, but rather a neighborhood of boston)
  8. 8 Roxbury (not a sep city, but rather a neighborhood of boston)
  9. 9 South Boston (not a sep city, but rather a neighborhood of boston)
  10. 10 West Roxbury (not a sep city, but rather a neighborhood of boston)
  11. 11 Winthrop ( a sep city)
It is clear enough to me that the Boston ones should be merged into the Boston list, and neighborhoods identified for all of the Boston NRHPs. This would require defining/adopting some partition of Boston into neighborhoods, which is not unambiguous (see Talk:Neighborhoods in Boston). doncram (talk)

Photos bring out text.[edit]

Thanks to User:Swampyank and User:Clariosophic for additions to Congregation Agudath Shalom‎ and [[Edward B. Newton School today and several others recently. Apparently seeing a photo brings out the writer in you and others -- I've posted photos in several other places (e.g. Donald McKay House) and had new text appear. I think I have all the rest of the photos for Suffolk County NRHP sites (ex Boston), which I'll post in the next day or two, so sharpen your pens some more.

The bit about the 1908 fire in Chelsea and the Walnut Street Shul asks the question, how close was it to the boundary of the 1973 Chelsea fire -- it had to have been within a block or so -- there's a pre 1973 building across Walnut Street, but IIRC, the fire got pretty close there. . . . . Almost done[edit]

Looks like the images are complete! The only thing missing is one red-linked article... Faolin42 (talk) 21:33, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
