reorganization[edit]

I'd like to reorganize this list-article, along lines done in other states. See Talk:National Register of Historic Places listings in Massachusetts for discussion. doncram (talk) 16:55, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've cut out all the Quincy listings, as they too have their own article. I've also removed Wrentham's old list after comparing to the new. Nyttend (talk) 06:02, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Last edit for the night: I've checked two more little tables, improved the descriptions for the article locations, and removed one place that's in Milton. By the way, the town is named Foxborough. Nyttend (talk) 07:11, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your edits, especially your improvments of the location descriptions. I've seen you do that elsewhere too, and think i never expressed that I believe you do a great job with that, as here. I finished off the remaining old tables and think the main table is now in pretty good shape. doncram (talk) 00:12, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Scan[edit]

Just went through the whole list to

  • check to see that any images in articles were also here
  • check to see if piping was needed

Thanks! I see u found 5 pics to add here! And, while i don't necessarily have all the MA NRHP list-articles on my watchlist, i noticed in some other one that you recently fixed the linking to a fully disambiguated name of article. It was probably me what had moved the article originally, and had not updated the MA NRHP list-article properly. For all of this, thanks! doncram (talk) 00:27, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Counts[edit]

We are inconsistent in the Massachusetts counties in showing a summary of the counts on the county page. Norfolk, Essex, and Worcester have it; Suffolk and Middlesex do not. I'm inclined to suggest removal, as it's just another thing to maintain. If someone feels strongly the other way, perhaps they would tackle the two missing ones (the remaining counties do not have sub-lists, I think).. . . . Jim . . . . A county at the top of each page is present at almost every list in 27 of the 33 states whose lists I've scanned, including a discussion of how many are present on subcounty lists such as Quincy or Milton. It's quite helpful to have a total and a discussion of how many are present and how many are included on separate lists. I've simply not gotten around to adding a header (for example, like the ones in the Vermont county lists) to the Massachusetts lists yet. I can get working on that if you think it's a priority. Nyttend (talk) 14:10, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not a priority -- quite the opposite. . . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 15:04, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've gotten nine counties done; the five remaining are more complicated — Bristol, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, and Worcester. They'll probably be more work than were Barnstable, Berkshire, Dukes, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Nantucket, Plymouth, and Suffolk, so I'll need to get to them another time. Jonathan Belcher House -- Help! -- what am I missing here?[edit]

Maybe I'm missing something and am being really dumb, but I have the following problem with the subject site:

  • I took a photo of it this morning. It has a sign out front that says it's on the National Register of Historic Places. see http://www.jonathanbelcherhouse.org/index.html
  • But, the Elkman tool comes up blank and so does a search on "Belcher House" and "Jonathan Belcher House" at http://www.nps.gov/nr/.
  • It's redlinked, the only redlinked Massachusetts listing I've seen except for relatively recent ones.
  • So, where else should I have looked -- or should we remove it from this list?

Thanks, . . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 14:23, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the infobox I found by running Randolph, MA on Elkman's tool. It's listed as Belcher, Jonathan, House. Another way to pull up things is to put in the name Belcher for instance in all states and see what it pulls up. Best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 14:39, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Duh -- I should have tried "Belcher" in Elkman -- I know that overspecifying is risky -- but I wonder why it didn't show up in the nps search.. Thanks for the second set of eyes, . . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 14:46, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks for bringing up this question. We occasionally discover sites in the lists that aren't really NRHP, and were added by someone who didn't realise that not all old buildings are included, so it's definitely right to question if something is wrong with the list.
