Afghan nationality/citizenship[edit]

Natives of Afghanistan never lose their nationality or citizenship after obtaining nationality or citizenship of another country. As such, Nasrat Haqparast is also an Afghan national and citizen through his Afghan parents. Afghanistan recognizes him as one of its citizens. This is clearly mentioned in the cited news reports by Ariana News, Pajhwok Afghan News, TOLOnews, etc. See, e.g.,

In the United States, such person would be recognized as an Afghan American. In Canada as Afghan Canadian and in Australia as Afghan Australian. I know there are Africans in Germany but a "German" in today's world refers to a Caucasian person with blue eyes and blond hair that has roots in what is now Germany.

Read MOS:ETHNICITY and MOS:NATIONALITY to familiarize yourself with what nationalities we use in the lead. Also note that we need a reliable source to include a nationality, not just a statement about supporting Afghanistan.

The current source that claims his German 'nationality' (note: nationality ≠ place of birth) is a 5-year-old YouTube interview… In this interview, he only specified that his parents came to Germany as refugees. Everything in between (their nationality status etc.) hasn't been specified in this quote “reliable” source, it has been assumed. That isn't more reliable than what OP has posted.

And since we are assuming, why isn't he fighting under the German flag in the UFC currently? And rather opted for fighting under the Moroccan flag (his current country of residence)? May as well remove both "German" or "Afghan" mixed martial artist, and not include a nationality/ethnicity at all in this case. Afrique0512 (talk) 13:35, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
