Prudence Wright's Guard[edit]

David Wright asppears to have had nothing to do with it, so shouldn't it be referred to as Prudence Wright's Guard instead of Mrs. David's? T bonham (talk) 00:50, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, but what was the unit called at the time?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 01:27, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Note that all of the sources apart from Bell & Crow refer to the unit as "Mrs David Wright's Guard", Bell & Crow use "Prudence Wright's Guard". I suspect the sources reflect the naming conventions of the time. WP convention is for the article to reflect the consensus of the sources - which it does at present. It is not up to us to correct perceived wrongs - Dumelow (talk) 07:28, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reason why it is "Mrs" instead of "Mrs."? Normal grammatical convention would call for a period in the abbreviation. Can it be changed? —Dilidor (talk) 10:11, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dilidor. It's my fault for being British, the full stop (period) isn't used in British English but I see our article says it is in American English. I'll move the article and make the changes in the DYK section - Dumelow (talk) 10:15, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much, Dumelow. I know it's a silly thing, but now I will sleep better tonight. And you are forgiven for being British. —Dilidor (talk) 10:19, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
