Richard Felix[edit]

I altered the article slightly to reflect todays announcement that Richard Felix has left the show (confirmed by his official website), but it has been reverted. All I did was move him from the 'current' section to the 'past' section. Any reason why we shouldn't keep the list up to date? 81.174.140.46 13:15, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A huge responsibility when making such changes to articles on Wikipedia is that you, the person that is making the changes, provide a citation of some sort in the article or discuss it first on this page, again providing a link for proof. You need to be aware that vandalism is rife on Wikipedia and this article is no exception. It is very easy to misinterpret genuine edits as vandalism when they're not backed up with solid proof. Someone recently moved David Wells to the former cast, which obviously wasn't true. In reference to your edit, I apologise if you were offended by the revert, however I did so with good reason. Assuming you're referring to http://www.richardfelix.co.uk, I cannot find any reference to Richard's departure there or on any other website. Of course if you can provide a citation for this by all means I agree the list should be up-to-date. ~~ Peteb16 14:04, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the explanation - no offence was taken, I was just wondering if you knew something I didn't. I'm fairly new to this wiki-malarky. The news was broke from Richards website this morning, via an email to all of their members. An announcement has been made by Richard himself in their forums. How do I go about creating an accurate citation to these pages? Where should the citation be placed? There are no citations for any other crew members saying if their past or curret so I haven't anything in this article at compare it to.81.174.140.46 14:32, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For information about why citations are used and how to use them see this article: Wikipedia:Citing_sources which will explain it much better than I can here. Also if you read this page, Wikipedia:Reliable_sources, you will discover that your source comes from what Wikipedia regards as unreliable, so it's best you don't use it. If I were you I would wait until the information was published elsewhere on Richard Felix's website or another official reputable site. Hope this helps. Usually if click the Help link on the left you'll find the answer to most questions in there too. ~~ Peteb16 14:49, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for the clarification. 81.174.140.46 14:59, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I called Richard personally to check, and also note with interest Steve Parsons has now announced his resignation on www.richardfelix.co.uk I also attempted an edit, but failed to provide proper citations, so fair enough, it has been reverted. I also forgot to log in (as I have just done again). Still if someone wants to update this, the postings in question are on www.richardfelix.co.uk under the Announcements subfora. I'll go read the citations section before I attempt an edit, to make sure I comply cj x 82.46.96.66

The problem is, and I know this is probably annoying some people - sorry about that, but forums are not reliable sources according to Wikipedia rules. I've said this until I'm blue in the face but people keep putting the forum as a reference. Phone conversations are also not valid sources. It's got to be in print in some document or other that is publically verifiable and submissions to a forum don't count. Although I don't personally believe the forums or your conversation is in anyway false or deceptive, the rules state 'The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth'. ~~ Peteb16 18:33, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah sorry. The forum posts in question are on Felix's own forum, and by Richard himself, so I thought they might count. I shall see if we can get an official announcement on his website. Still, it hardly matters much, as I believe there amy still be unaired episodes featuring him. 82.46.96.66

Ciaran O'Keefe's comments[edit]

Is there anything more about the comments made by Ciaran O'Keefe regarding Derek Acorah? It seems strange that a parapsychologist would attempt to decry a psychic, criticise the pratices of Most Haunted, yet still remain a part of the show. Wouldn't this simply denigrate his credentials as a parapsychologist and a university lecturer? Moreover, why would another psychic (Gordon Smith) join the show if there is a chance their reputation could be damaged? I think the whole situation is very strange, and warrants further investigation (no pun intended).

There is obviously the possiblity that O'Keefe simply did not like or agree with Acorah's practises, but wished to remain a part of the show in an effort to find concrete evidence of paranormal activity. However, after the claims levelled at Yvette and Karl, why would he continue in such an enviroment? If the creators of the show are involved in some sort of skulduggery, which is implied in the article, surely no scienctific evidence can be garnered?

Doesn't seem to be much conversation on this topic, so I may be talking to myself here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allthesestars (talkcontribs) 23:37, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Love i agree with ya a 100% because ciarian has had the wool pulled over his eyes for years the cheak of him if only he got glasses he see he been fooled by that carl &stew & evet as well what a dope I am a nobody and I can show clearly evandince of them trowing and making noise and much more 1 cameras 🎥 on 5/6/7 people and that shit looking up to the ceiling and Fred bat and his empty book 2A02:8084:A81:9A00:8D01:5A64:E478:1061 (talk) 02:41, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am glad Acorah is no longer on the show. The bullshit factor when he was blabbing was always very ridiculous. He took away from the show's intent of supposedly "investigating" paranormal activity. Acorah's paranormal behavior was merely paycheck behavior. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.210.136.121 (talk) 03:24, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ciarán O'Keeffe was only attempting to decry Derek as a competant and, above all, honest psycic. He obviously had his doubts that Derek was a good influence to the show and so, for the sake of the show, attempted to collect as much evidence as possible that Derek was faking it before bringing it to the attention of producers. O'Keeffe's continued presence on the show is an indication that said producers recognise that what he was doing wasn't an effort to disprove the possibility that ghosts exist but to remove an element (Derek) of the show which could have destroyed any chance of the show being taken seriously if such phenomena was proved to exist. I don't believe any new psycics have anything to fear from O'Keeffe so long as they continue to do their investigations without stooping so low as to start making up lies to fill out an hours episode. So far David Wells and O'Keeffe have been on good terms and there's no reason to suggest that Ciarán has any doubts of his honesty. ~~ Peteb16 20:58, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Carl and stew are the bullshit because notting ever happened when u and evat and the rest were together only when carl and stew went of together things started to do this and that stuff been thrown and when ya look at other people who invastageat Notting happens like uses are show it is amazing how can ya trow a penny or a stone and all of a sudden one gets thrown by carl i like to no why all of the crew are not in shots of the 1 carama for 7:8 people come on now ya no what i mean a big show like that a joke if I was u I look very carefully at all the times u we’re with them and had the wool pulled over ya eyes mate 2A02:8084:A81:9A00:8D01:5A64:E478:1061 (talk) 02:33, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone with a good eye could see that Derek was lying so Ciaran actually did the show a favor. David Wells always has been the psychic between the two, If you can see nothing happens in an investigation Derek seemed to "pick" up something and get "possessed" by some unknown spirit. Believable at first but it just goes on and on which what made me stop watching the show[[User:Disneyrocks13] 10:18, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

POV in 'Production' section[edit]

The first paragraph in the Production section seems awfully POVvy to me ("truly spectacular"? "revolutionary"? "visually outstanding"?). I'm going to go ahead and snip most of it out, but if anyone can do a rewrite in a way that doesn't sound like a press release, please go ahead. Matt Eason 18:55, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Recent rewrite[edit]

I've reverted changes made to the article which had effectively rewritten the entire document without any given reason. The new article had no wikilinks, no infobox and contained POV comments. ~~ Peteb16

I think anybody that believes in most haunted need there head felt karl and his wife are fake you would be better of believing in fairies cause she is so false and she has always been let me tell you all the only spirit you will come in contact with is in a pub or god him self the other ones don't have the power to come back when you die you die and you don't ever come back cause nobody is above god you lot are like we boys and girls that never grew up you've watching to much t.v. come back to the real world and stop watching that muck.

What's this got to do with the Recent Rewrite? Fake or not, it exists as a tv show with huge popularity, to deny it a place on wiki would be daft.A.Grace 13:48, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yvette the psychic?[edit]

One section talks about videos that have supposedly been circulating showing the crew staging different things. One part says 'and another shows one of their "phychics", Yvette trying to move a glass.'. Yvette isn't one of the psychics, she's the presenter.--Jcvamp 01:24, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Series six?[edit]

This comment was put on the article page why are the rest of series 6 been deleted?? There were 29 epsisodes, not 18!! To clear this up, I got the info to update the series locations from the Antix productions website, wich for some reason has some duplications from series five in the series six list. I did the best i could to remove the duplications. Have i missed some episodes? Can anyone clear this up? A.Grace 15:34, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Again, series six has been updated with the duplications!!!.A.Grace 18:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorted, series five was the problem, all should be correct now.A.Grace 19:44, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Derek dropped?[edit]

The article mentions that Acorah was dropped according to the daily star due to him lying, followed by someone saying it isnt true? this needs citation or deletion Adamshappy 10:48, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added comments made by Yvette Fielding in an interview with the UK Metro on October 29th 2006 [1]. This is specifically about him leaving the Most Haunted show and not "TV bosses" dropping him. In fact Derek Acorah's article says he has signed for two series of Derek Acorah's Ghost Towns with Living TV. I cannot shed any light on the Daily Star story however. Fuzzyslob 22:07, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Derek was NEVER fired from Most Haunted. If you guys would leave the links to BadPsychics.com up you would know this. BadPsychics.com was the WORLDS FIRST SITE to expose most haunted and Derek Acorah, in fact the Kreed Kafer debacle was exclusively written about on BadPsychics 6 months BEFORE the Mirror Article.

Split section Most Haunted Live[edit]

Most Haunted Midsomer Murders[edit]

There is going to be a new series of Most Haunted titled Most Haunted Midsomer Murders. The Team will be going to villages and other countries. I think i am going to make a discussion about it, it starts at the end of June. ~~Disneyrocks13 19:39 3 June 2007

Terminology[edit]

"The show's presenter and executive producer, Yvette Fielding said in an interview that she believes it was a fake possession[3]. A possible theory is that Derek only thinks he is getting possessed, when in all actuality he's imagining things. Other people might say the possession-of-the-day (week, for the television one-off version) made the shows more interesting."

it is worth noting that possessions are involuntary and channels are voluntary and that terminilogy should reflect this

Series 8 - Historians[edit]

I removed this segment:

"The shows presenter Yvette Fielding claimed soon after that the reason for Richard's departure was that producers on Living TV announced that the show no longer required a historian on the team. This has since caused much controversy however, since the shows tenth series aired from February to April 2008 as viewers realised that despite the claims made during the filming of the ninth series in 2006, Lesley Smith began to accompany the team in the series therefore taking Richard's place... David Wells became the main Medium on the show getting the main chunk of the Day-Time walk arounds as Derek Acorah used to get."

It's not that I dispute the truth of what's being said - although there are no cites supplied - but the way in which it's presented. Although I can't put my finger on it, it does seem a little 'spun': whether that's conscious or not on the part of the original author it strikes me as having an implied critical tone (not helped by the presence of the ellipsis).

I could have simply rewritten the segment, but I think the information might be better properly cited and placed in the 'Controversy' section, and I'm not in a position to cite the claims being made. - Aethelmost (talk) 10:10, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tidying[edit]

I've been through the series summaries and tidied up a few things. I was doing the same with the Controversy section, but the site timed out, reset, and lost all my changes. I really can't be bothered to do it all again just now. Assuming nobody beats me to it, I'll come back when I have more time and have another go, this time in Notepad first. - Aethelmost (talk) 11:02, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

removed section[edit]

The following unsourced text was stated to be incorrect by Antix. It's been removed. It's clearly lacking any evidence or citations. Can it be discussed on this page and consensus reached, before any reinstatement or removal is considered by anyone. The section read:

"The original editor, Neil Haggerty, is said by many fans[citation needed] to be responsible for the creation of the original Most Haunted look. Neil created intricate edits, using a wide range of visual effects such as dust and scratchings and luminescent transitions. He also used many other devices such as slow or sped-up images from the steadicam to create gliding shots, imposing and superimposing and many other effects resulting in the show looking sophisticated edit wise. The show was edited at 422 in Manchester from series 1-5 and from series 6 has been edited on Antix' own edit suites. Neil left after series 4 and was replaced by an "edit team." This resulted in a different editor for almost every episode. The style of editing has changed considerably with less visual effects used now and more "edit" effects, such as lens darkening and light play used."

This section might also need courtesy blanking once any discussion is done. FT2 (Talk | email) 16:22, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Was?[edit]

"Most Haunted was a British paranormal documentary reality television series that premiered on May 25, 2002 and ended on July 21, 2010 on Living presented by Yvette Fielding. "

The Antix website seems to suggest that the show is still active, so why is this written in past tense? 87.82.3.77 (talk) 10:18, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some cleanup done[edit]

The opinion, excessive detail (such as listing everyone how has ever worked on the show), uncited FB quoting on another show and linkspam, deadlinks and nonrefs etc have been removed. Plutonium27 (talk) 09:04, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Alienmagnet (talk) 17:20, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Additional cleaning done 6/15/11 : Removed the following content under "Controvery" because it is inaccurate:[reply]

"Further videos have surfaced on sharing website You Tube which would appear to show Yvette Fielding herself faking ghostly breaths and knocks. These images would appear to show Yvette breath in the ears of her investigators as well as kicking doors shut in a kitchen. It was about the time these videos surfaced that David Wells quit and Most Haunted subsequently ended."

David Wells left for health concerns. The statement posted states that David Wells quit and the series ended. That is also incorrect as the show continued for several years with other mediums until July of 2010. The statement also makes refence to YouTube videos supposedly accusing of Yvette Fielding faking evidence. These videos are posted and edited in a way by the posters to express their viewpoint, and are not nessisarily true themselves. There is no reference to videos that support Yvette Fielding, and therefore I suggest that this paragraph is biased and unresearched.

Mateyness[edit]

Why was this article so matey with Karl this and Yvette that? Are they our friends or something? Can an encyclopaedia be friends with TV presenters? Seems unlikely; I'd have thought it would be friends with other reference works, and even then only on Talk pages. I've cleaned this up as far as possible. Best wishes to all 82.34.71.202 (talk) 11:44, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Series 12, 13 & 14" sub-section and Re-numbering thereafter[edit]

As the article states, series' 12 and 13 are combined to create a single long series, as such shouldn't the subsection titles be changed? What I mean is that after this point, all the series numbering is different to citation sources (such as the IMDb) due to the sites representing the two series' as one. For instance, in the series 20 section, the citation links to the IMDb page for series 19. I just think for consistency it would be better to have the article's numbering correspond to the referenced sources numbering. But mention in the paragraph that originally they were going to be two separate series'.

Also in addition to this, does there really any need to be so much detail in sub-section headings? Why not just include it in the paragraph? --Jordan8396.ja (talk) 05:01, 20 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose to merge Most Haunted: Midsummer Murders into Most Haunted. The Midsummer Murders series is the 10th series of Most Haunted, as confirmed by director and producer Karl Beattie. We don't want to cause confusion [1] 2.31.40.43 (talk) 03:18, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
