Auchengeich mining disaster and categories[edit]

The section on the Auchengeich mining disaster seems to have been moved from the Auchinloch article. That article is currently in Category:Coal mining disasters in Scotland, Category:1959 disasters in the United Kingdom, Category:1959 in Scotland and Category:1959 mining disasters, although as I have noted on its talk page as it now makes now reference to the disaster it is questionable whether it should still be in them. However should this article now go in these categories? An alternate possibility would be that a separate article on the disaster could be started if someone had the resources to create it. @Dunarc:I didn't know a whole lot about the disaster or its location but a quick look shows the colliery was just to the west of Moodiesburn, and the monument is located there too. If there was no other significant settlement between the mine and Auchinloch it would be OK to mention it in its article and no doubt there was a few miners at Auchengeich who were from Auchinloch and other nearby villages, but geographically and culturally there's no doubt in my mind that it 'belongs' to Moodiesburn. So I have removed the cats and photo (also on Moodiesburn) from Auchinloch, but I don't know if it would really be appropriate to add the cats to the general Moodiesburn article either. An alternative (something of a bodge job, not sure if it would be officially approved of, but anyway) could be to create a redirect for Auchengeich mining disaster or similar to hold the categories. At present, a standalone article with just what's in the Moodiesburn section would be pretty weak. Crowsus (talk) 01:43, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
