Birthday.

OWW lists him as being born in 1970. Which is it? There's no way he went pro at 16. VelvetKevorkian 01:41, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

And why not? Daivari had his first pro match at 15. Romis 19:13, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Born in 1970

Guys, I don't know who keeps reverting the edits to 1985, as it does look like unregistered users. But other sites have MVP listed as 1970, which appears about right. Who supports locking this page to unregistered users?

P.S. To those who keep reverting it back to 1970 besides myself, thanks. Jgera5 02:27, 19 October 2006 (UTC). ok juss guessing i dont think its ether. ok i read the artical and i was thinking sence he said that he started getting into gangs when he was 12 so if he went in when he was 12 then he may be 21 but i doubet it

TTB

we should add the TTB back into his finishers with an (OVW) parenthesis

I don't think it shoulda been moved cause other Superstars have previous moves on there Finisher list.

Intro Music note (Silkk Tha Shocker "I'm Comin'")

I put down that this was Mark Henry's music, because it was Mark Henry's music before he changed it to "Some Bodies Gonna Get It" by "Three 6 Mafia". It was never intended for the boogieman, who ever started that up was totally wrong. Govvy 16:23, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Either way it's not incredibly relevant to the article, so both notes have been removed. Neither claim has been cited.-- bd (talk to me) (watch me) 17:12, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Actually Mark Henry never used I'm Comin'. When he stopped using "Echo", he started using Some Bodies Gonna Get It

Current picture

it looks like MVP has eaten a skunk, had violent diarrhea, and then smelt it. please can we find new one Mr Richardson 21:41, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Hasaan Assad is his real name.

Hasaan Assad is the real name of Antonio Banks/MVP. Just because it hasn't come out until now doesn't mean it isn't true. One of the most respected reporters of wrestling says that it is true. I am going to go with what he says as opposed to going with what everyone thought was true.—Preceding unsigned comment added by User:XNightfallx (talkcontribs)

Needs a real source. Every other source to this point has said Antonio Banks, including interviews with the man himself. Just because Dave Meltzer says something doesn't make it so, and until he provides proof it is considered possibly libelous. Do NOT add it back.«»bd(talk stalk) 00:16, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

First of all, you can't just tell me not to add something back. Dave said that he got that info from people who worked with Assad/Porter in Deep South Wrestling. I don't know what would make you happy aside from MVP saying that it is in fact his real name. Why would anyone think to ask if his real name was or wasn't Antonio Banks? It sounds like a possible name. Nobody asks actors in interviews if their stage name is their real name. You just come to expect that a name that sounds like it could be real IS real.—Preceding unsigned comment added by User:XNightfallx (talkcontribs)

Please sign you comments using four tildes, like this: ~~~~.
I can tell you not to add it back because it violates wikipedias rules on biographies of living people, specifically the sections on possibly libel and Verifiability. "He heard it from a guy who worked with him once" is not verifiable, especially when everything else, everything that is verifiable, says something else. Any time it's added back it will be promptly removed. People adding it back with only Meltzer to back it up will be looked upon as vandals.«»bd(talk stalk) 11:55, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure you could figure all of this out by looking at criminal databases. Search for an Antonio Banks, and a Hasaan Assad in Florida. He was convicted of a felony, so it would be on record, and might even be online.Shatterzer0 02:49, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

The burden of proof falls upon those making the assertions, so doing the research falls upon those who want the article to say that his name is Hassaan Assad. Peace, The Hybrid 04:15, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Why does it really matter the guy probably changed his name after 9/11 because Hassaan Assad is a name of an accused terrorist I believe. 86.143.91.36 22:33, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Wouldn't that be OR anyway? --Maestro25 16:52, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Surely this deserves a mention at least, sure as "one source has indicates his real name to be Hassan Assad"

He has good reason to lie about his name as wrestling often has stereotypical characters and with a name like Hassan Assad, he'd get given a poor Arab/terrorist gimmick very quickly

Though he has an Arab name, isn't he African American?

Appearantly, Hassan Assad is an alias. An offender information search at http://www.dc.state.fl.us/AppCommon/ reveals his name to actually be Alvin Burke Jr. The birthday and the picture matches, and lists Hassan Assad as an alias. I cannot hardlink the search, but a search for either Hassan Assad or Alvin Burke Jr will give you his information. A search for Antonio Banks gives no results. I am not sure where to go with this article with this information, so I thought I would post it here for others to look at. [[User:|74.71.246.6]] 23:46, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

I don´t think the "Sitout Side Powerslam" should be listed as a signature move, since he only used it once as a counter to Kendrick´s Sliced Bread #2. Just getting a win with it doesn´t make the move a signature move. 89.48.241.57 15:51, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Article Name Chance Proposal

I think the name of this article should be named MVP. I have been looking all throughout wikipedia for this man's article, only to find that the name of it is Alvine Burke. No WWE fan is going to look up Alvin Burke if they're trying to look up MVP. Trust me! The name of this article is ridiculous. No one knows him by this name. Well at least not the general public. And the name of the article should be something the general public knows as its information for the general public. Maybe Alvin Burke could be added into an article about MVP that it is his actual name, but this article is useless and wont get as many views or edits as it could if it were under tha name everyone knows him as. Please write if you oppose or agree down below.

Strong agree per my reasons above. Masta P 08:37, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Your contributions seem a little too familiar. Regardless, the acronym "MVP" is most commonly known as being short for the term Most Valuable Player, not Burke's current ring name. - Deep Shadow 09:46, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Oppose That's fairly ridiculous reasoning. Montel Vontavious Porter already redirects here, and is on the MVP disambiguation page. Under no circumstances will this article overtake the real meaning of MVP, and since Burke has used two ring names (not to mention two real names) the only thing to use per Wikipedia naming conventions and (exhaustive) discussion on the Pro Wrestling Wikiproject is his sourced real name.«»bd(talk stalk) 12:45, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Ending this debate

Gerweck.net states that Antonio Banks was born in 1985 -- making him 21 -- while OWW says 1970 -- making him 36. Aside from Armageddon, the last time I remember MVP defending the US title is way back when his fued with Matt Hardy began. Aren't champions meant to defend their title every 30 days or have I just forgotten some title defences? Tony2Times (talk) 20:57, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, kinda, you did. He defended it at Cyber Sunday against Kane, and retained it the same way he did against Rey Mysterio at Armageddon. Running Kick

I believe his running kick to an opponent is called the drive by or drive by kick. If you watch Smackdown over the past couple of weeks, Taz called it the drive by kick each time he used it.
