what are some examples of a monomer?

Seriously, one cannot explain one concept in terms of more advanced concepts.

It seems that one could define a monomer only in relation to a polymer that is made out of it… otherwise, in all other respects, it's just a regular chemical compound, generally. Definition[edit]

Sorry, but neither must a monomer be a small molecule nor must the monomers in oligo- or multimers be chemically bonded to each other. I would think that DNA would be a very good counter example to the definition given. Halx (talk) 11:18, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Amino acids are natural monomers that polymerize at ribosomes to form proteins.

Surprize? no water?[edit]

The cited source did not support that claim, so I removed it. I couldn't find a source for what proportion of plant matter is glucose, but Cellulose has some statistics that may be of interest. Adrian J. Hunter^{(talk•contribs)} 11:57, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
