Horrible "article"[edit]

This fan piece is written almost entirely of quotes from Guiliano's own site. Maybe it is time to erase it as she is clearly not relevant enough to have more outside sources.

And this line "She has been profiled in The New York Times, USA Today, TIME, Newsweek, The Robb Report, Business Week, Travel & Leisure, Food & Wine and dozens of other publications.[5]" If that were true then why are there so few citations that are not Guiliano's site?

Untitled[edit]

I am the author of this page for Mireille Guiliano, and trying to edit to make it conform to Wikipedia's standards. Ivf I haven't already done so, how do I edit to make it less like an advertisement?? Eringobragh81 (talk) 14:29, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Studies[edit]

According to her bio on her own website she studied English and German literature. "Mireille holds the French equivalent of a master's degree in English and German and certification as a translator/interpreter. She also has a command of Italian and several other languages." http://mireilleguiliano.com/section/sub/6 --Karim171 (talk) 11:40, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

Article says: "Mireille Guiliano (French pronunciation: [miʁɛj ʒuˈlyɑnɔ])". This seems unlikely, as in general, in French, names are pronounced strictly as they are spelled, with a stress on the last syllable. Also, "u" is generally pronounced [y], not [u], and I think whoever wrote the transcription was confusing [y] (like German ü) with [j] (like English y). The French pronunciation is surely [gɥi.ljɑ.'nɔ] if it is really spelled that way (which apparently it -- bizarrely -- is). It would have to be spelled "Giuliano" to be pronounced in Italian as [dʒu.'ljɑ.no], and in French as [ʒy.li.ɑ.'nɔ].

But in the end, a (not great, but better than nothing) source says it is pronounced in English as "Meer-ray Julie-ano" i.e. [mireɪ d͡ʒuliɑːnoʊ][1], so I will correct. --Macrakis (talk) 00:57, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
