Meaning[edit]

What does They performed "swimming" in a machinery imagined by Wagner, and realised with difficulties. mean? The Rambling Man (talk) 07:57, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's explained in detail in the article Rhinemaidens#On stage, pictured: a complicated machinery or "apparatus" (in the historic source) to make them appear swimming. I thought it was too much detail for her article, but feel free to take over from there what you think is needed. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:18, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And what does "realised with difficulties" mean? The Rambling Man (talk) 17:04, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It is short for "he had a dream, but making it real was difficult", - I probably think too much in German, - can you help? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:16, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I overlooked your request for assistance yesterday. I've given the sentence a tweak. Gatoclass (talk) 15:49, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
