Not Kilometers?[edit]

Why aren't they simplified into kilometers, like 3 kilometers instead of 3000 meters?

Events run on the track are usually referred to in meters. Descriptions in kilometers tend to be for cross-country races or road races.--Boneillhawk 18:47, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Japan and U.S. School Times?[edit]

I'm not quite sure why we there are lists of times, on a year-by-year basis, for high school athletes in Japan and the United States. This is an article on middle distance track, not on the relative performances of Japanese and American kids in the years 2007 and 2008 (or whatever). I understand that KantoKaze has spent a decent amount of effort adding this information, but unfortunately I'm going to have to put in my vote to remove this information. The good news is that someone looked at the page. Open to suggestions where we might put information about actually running these events. More specifically, it is highly likely that the audience for this page might be heavily oriented to young students, new runners and would-be runners. While the world record for a seasoned adult runner is interesting, I wondered what data might have a closer connection to the readers` experience. The Japan, USA data was merely an opening shot. Is there possibility of starting a new page on this? --KantoKaze (talk) 00:35, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this absolutely do not belong in the article! Almost funny, that this stayed so long!--Anaxagoras13 (talk) 20:29, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
KantoKaze added this data 5 days after he joined wikipedia, that says something, he had no idea what wikipedia is at that moment.--Anaxagoras13 (talk) 11:27, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why is 5000 m mentioned at all in the text when it isn't a middle distance??[edit]

  • Support. Consistent with Long-distance running. Location (talk) 19:11, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Widely used compound modifier form which aids interpretation and consistency of this rather long phrase. Matches up with the recently moved long-distance article. The difference between these article names was never intentional and is simply a case of unquestioned history. SFB 20:40, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - Consistency and proper grammar. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 19:04, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Same time range for 2000 metre steeplechase and 5000 metres[edit]

  • 2000 metre steeplechase
Girls High School USA Time Range 2007 16:36.34 - 16:50.47
  • 5000 metres
Girls High School USA Time Range 2007 16:36.34 - 16:50.47

I suppose the time range for the 2000 m steeplechase needs correction. 2001:838:305:0:0:0:0:3 (talk) 19:51, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
