Simultaneous edits untangled[edit]

There seems to have been simultaneous edits while the page was being moved to "television designer"; no intention was involved to remove any earlier material. I'm about to try to restore the earlier matter, but it probably needs rewriting. Macspaunday 23:33, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Have now restored the lost material except for misstatement that the TV program was "about Yates": it was about Auden's whole career, and Yates was mentioned only in passing. (Information based on tape of the broadcast in my possession.) Macspaunday 23:37, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

![edit]

Damn good trick, Macspaunday! Haiduc 23:58, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just making sure: is that ironic? I restored the missing material...! Macspaunday 02:41, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not ironic at all[edit]

Very nice expansion of the equality discussion. One more thing - did not Yates stay on in Iceland with Auden and MacNeice after his school group returned? Haiduc 21:09, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I think the level of detail in this section is (to put it mildly) somewhat out of proportion for an online encyclopedia, but since I suppose the details would be added anyway, they might as well be consistent with the style of the rest of the entry, and based on first-hand rather than third-hand sources. By the way, Auden wrote quite a bit more about inequality in relationships in the thirties, but this is the clearest reference to this specific relation, and anything more would just be repetition.
