Where Are the 80s Singles?[edit]

MWS had a lot of singles released in the 80s, not for mainstream, but to the Contemporary Christian stations. Songs like "Friends" "I Know" et cetera, which were tracked by CCM Magazine. Why are they not included in the list? ---- 72.70.157.161 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:21, 4 June 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Would there be any objections if we separate the Christmas and Instrumental albums?[edit]

I feel like they're different from regular studio albums. Thoughts?--Krystaleen 06:21, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It breaks the chronological flow, but I could see some readers specifically looking for those albums. Others? Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:43, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean, but the chronological flow has already been broken anyway because the live albums are listed separately. I know it's in the wikipedia guide to list live albums separately but as we all know, his live albums aren't just some live versions of his existing studio albums, but more like actual albums with new material, only live. So to me at least, the chronological flow is already broken. I know as a new fan a few years ago I found the list a bit confusing because of the instrumental and Christmas albums thrown together with regular albums. But I wouldn't mind waiting for another editor's opinion.--Krystaleen 16:32, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent point. Since it's a fairly large body of work it makes sense to separate it. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:40, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it's pretty large indeed, which is why it was overwhelming to me. Anyway if no one objects in about a week I'd separate them then, unless someone else did it first. Thanks.--Krystaleen 16:55, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This is now done. I have another suggestion though.--Krystaleen 10:03, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Should we just combine all the studio albums in one table?[edit]

Now that it's not as crowded as it used to, I think they don't need to be separated by decades anymore. It'll be tidier as well.--Krystaleen 10:03, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fourteen may be too many, but try it out in a sandbox page to see if you think it looks good or not. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:01, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I'll use my sandbox. Will let you know what I think later.--Krystaleen 18:47, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
So I've tried it in my sandbox User:Krystaleen/sandbox#Studio albums. Looks ok I think. Fewer tables to deal with too.--Krystaleen 10:05, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. BTW, you can create multiple pages in your user space. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:26, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've merged it now. Thanks for the info I didn't know that.--Krystaleen 15:33, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The knet180radio.com link does not appear to be in the archive. It was crawled 11 times, but a sampling of them shows that nothing was saved.
The YouTube video is not in the archive at all. Walter Görlitz (talk) 18:19, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Limiting entries in the guest appearances and collaborative albums section[edit]

I removed a large number of single songs from the guest appearances and collaborative albums section. When the Smith has worked on hundreds of albums, making a comprehensive table like this is difficult. Please remember, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. Usually, when a list is short, we don't pay attention to lists like this. When the list starts to grow, we start deleting entries for subjects that don't have articles (removing non-notable entries). If it is still too large, we will often remove all entries that didn't chart. I started with that principle. Other editors might have started by removing entries that don't have references. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:43, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. However, if the problem is that the list is too long, wouldn't removing the "songs written for other artists" section make more sense than removing these?--Krystaleen 14:10, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My concern is not that the discography is too long, it is that individual sections are becoming too large. I agree that songs written for other artists could be trimmed as well. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:38, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rework[edit]

I've just completely revamped this article, fixing the tables to meet standards, fixing the sources to be comprehensive and accurate (singles were formerly united), and removing sections that are typically excluded (like writing credits, music videos, and maxi singles). I think the lede could use some touching up, though, if anyone is up to it - Smith's career is so long that it is hard to summarize in just a few paragraphs Toa Nidhiki05 03:11, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
