Are we sure he "joined the Navy as a lieutenant" (O-3)? Most officers begin their career as an Ensign (O-1). He did hold a master's degree in engineering; is it common for the Navy to adjust an officer's initial rank for this reason? 71.221.119.45 (talk) 03:55, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
