Grand nationals[edit]

The source says "Johnny Pachivas Grand Nationals in Miami Beach." It says nothing about United States Karate Association (USKA) it also says he won it four times, the article clearly implies 3. I also can find no referance to Florida Karate State Champion. As thius source does not support much of the information it should be removed.Slatersteven (talk) 11:22, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

John Pachivas was the Southeastern Director of USKA. This means the championship took place within his territory and he was listed as the organizer. The Florida Karate State Championship is sourced at the end of the sentence. Pkeets (talk) 03:48, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can we have a source for the fact he organised it.Slatersteven (talk) 14:21, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

Sources must explicitly state what the articel says. This source says nothing about him setting up which became part of the U.S. Chito-ryu Karate Federation http://wikibin.org/articles/u.s.-yoshukai-karate.html it says "to work within dojos established by Michael G. Foster" it says nothing about links to Chito-ryu Karate FederationSlatersteven (talk) 11:43, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the full quote: "He located in Florida to work within dojos established by Michael G. Foster, who had brought the Yoshukan branch of Chito-ryu to the United States." If you will read the rest of the article, you'll see that Foster was at that time part of the Chito-ryu organization, and by definition schools he established and headed were part of the organization. The information is gathered from several sources, and if you insist on sourcing every phrase, then the article will be unreadable because of the sourcing. Also, if you insist that the language exactly match the sources, then you're verging on plagiarism. I think the article is sufficiently sourced and that your complaints are unfounded. Pkeets (talk) 04:04, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You are not permited to combine sources to arrive at claims not expresly stated by thiose sources. Nor am I insisting all phrases are sources, but if a claim is made it has to be sourced. Nor am I asking that passages exactly match the sources, but they must accuratly refect what the source says.Slatersteven (talk) 13:20, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Steping down[edit]

He did not step down from director ship of US Yoshukai Karate Association. One source says "Foster would break away from Yamamoto" indicating a slit rather then a move. the otehr sourcve says he left (rather then steping down). As such the passage needs re-wording to refct thsi.Slatersteven (talk) 13:20, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Three-time USKA Grand National Champioon[edit]

I think that is all we can say given that there is contradiction over who won the 1970 championship.Slatersteven (talk) 15:49, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wallace is a middleweight, and he's got his own article. There's no need to discuss his win here. The same goes for Lewis. Pkeets (talk) 14:22, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
