Yaakov Shwekey[edit]

Are you really sure that Yaakov Shwekey was a member of the MBC when he was a boy???? i'm asking that because I have absolutely all the albums of MBC that were ever produced and I cannot found the name "Yaakov Shwekey" anywhere on the albums, except on the album "Miami 25", but at that time he was already a grown-up!!!

So, if Yaakov Shwekey was really a child-member of the choir, it was under another name?

Supposedly the actual surname is "Choueka", but I couldn't find any boy with the name "Choueka".

I've found some assertions on the web, that he was in the MBC for only few months :

He indeed was. According to MBC records he was part of the group for a few months, though I cannot recall the year off hand. Begun should have the records to verify.

Yaakov shwekey and his brother are on the album TORAH TODAY. Their pictures are even in it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mindycl (talkcontribs) 16:25, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

any solos?

BTW he was definately in the choir, as he is featured on miami 25, as a guest alumni.

Notable alumni section[edit]

Adding members to the "list."

Why are we limited to those members listed? There are so many other influential members. How about Lowy? Why is Karity there? We have to have some system to use to list members, or we should delete this entire section because it limits the ability for individuals to gauge who was and was not influential to this group. We have one week to decide, or I'm editing the entire thing out.

I think we need a policy regarding notability of alumni. How about the following:

  1. Anyone with a WP article.
  2. Anyone who a news search (or other publication) shows a feature primarily about him.

The first item seems simple. The second one allows for notability of alumni who may have gone on to be world renown chemists or famous schoolteachers. Thoughts? Joe407 (talk) 05:08, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment I'm not convinced that the same standard should apply to every subject. A tiny group might have very few properly notable alumni, but have a person important to the group that is also an alumni. So you might mention "Mary, who is both an alumna and a major force in the school's continued existence" but not "Sue, who is notable for Wikipedia but only attended the school very briefly and had essentially no effect on it." In general, you want to follow the sources: if people writing about the school/choir/organization mention this or that "famous alumnus(a)", then they should be included in the article about the group, but otherwise not. • This seems reasonable. As such I am going to purge the alumni list and request that all additions be with sources regarding their notablility. Joe407 (talk) 17:32, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
