A controversy section?[edit]

Would a controversy section in this article be appropriate? Jason has had a fair share of negative attention in the past well documented on his smash wikia page.Thehack771 (talk) 22:40, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Some of it is already mentioned in the article. If at this point there shouldn't really be a controversy section because it's considered a violation of WP:NPOV according to WP:CONTROVERSY.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 04:33, 8 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Aspergers Claim[edit]

The article claims "Zimmerman is diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome." unambiguously but the article cited is much less clearly worded. The quote from the article is “I have Asperger’s they say, but I know that I’m smart," without any real context suggesting who "they" are. The smash community has long speculated on this (there's a clip in the smash documentary of Wife doing this) and it seems just as likely that this is what Zimmerman is referring to with "they" than doctor which have given him a diagnosis. Later in the article he questions the legitimacy of aspergers as a diagnosis in general but never clearly states that he has been diagnosed personally. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LannyIsMyHandle (talk • contribs) 19:20, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mew2King (video game player) → ? – Yesterday, BP OMowe moved this article from Jason Zimmerman to its current title, citing this RM from 2018. I think it should definitely be moved again due to the unnecessary disambiguation, but I'm not sure what to. Google brings up about 330,000 results for "Mew2King" but only about 82,800 for "jason zimmerman", and many of the results on the first few pages for the latter term are irrelevant. Additionally, on Google Trends "mew2king" is the more popular search term, though "jason zimmerman" did peak in February 2012, and many of the "related" queries for the latter term are about a different Jason Zimmerman who dated Melissa Rivers. Mew2King feels like the obvious option here. It's what he's known as in the community and most articles written about him refer to him as that. @Netoholic: et al, the move had nothing to do with this page per se, but part of the larger standardisation process about video gamer articles. It is thus infeasible to discuss it on each and every article talk page. For the general discussion though, I'd like to point to the Wikipedia policies of Recognizability, Naturalness and Consistency, all of which are met by using the game handle as article name. The policy of Conciseness is also better met by this system.
The discussion is hence not about if this article is to be moved, but if there is some reason not to move it. For instance, Jeon_Sang-wook_(video_game_player) for some reason is far better known by his real name than the game handle, which is the reason his article divert from the general standard. If there are some similar reason here, it should of course remain where it is. BP OMowe (talk) 21:14, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - the higher-quality journalistic sources[1][2], don't use Mew2King to the exclusion of his full name (making it not a true WP:STAGENAME) - his full name is used when they introduce him. The correct CONSISTENT handling is to follow naming guidelines - not arbitrarily list off WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, because in fact Category:American esports players shows many full name titles (as they all should probably be). -- Netoholic @ 13:51, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Certainly the most common name in industry news. Non-gaming-specific outlet coverage is certainly more limited, but from what I see in places like ESPN the tendency is to note his name but then use the common name throughout, similar to the numerous examples included in the nomination.
