mistake[edit]

in the introduction the article claims Old World Underground to be their second album, yet later on it says the same album is their first. So which is it? (I would fix it but I am not THAT knowledged with Metric) BadCRC 02:04, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That is a definite mistake, it is their first (released) album. I'll change it. DeadDisco

Grow Up and Blow Away (2007), says it's their newest album yet to be released. June 26, 2007. That's impossible cause I've had this album long ago. Possibly a mistake? Jonmwang 03:38, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, it isn't because it was circulated on the internet for several years due to it not being released when it was supposed to because of the problems they had with the record label it was going to be released on; the label was purchased by another I believe. Rations 02:37, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Length?[edit]

the article seems a little long, and unorganized. perhaps someone with more knowledge of the band could reorganize the 'discography' into someonething slightly more readable... possibly giving their important albums pages of their own?

List of songs[edit]

The list of songs seems lengthy and unneccessary. Evan Reyes 09:12, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Commercial singles[edit]

The list of commercial singles should stay listed and they are now, they are the only singles that are available for purchasing... the others ppl keep adding are only radio released tracks which are not available to buy., 10:42, 6 of October.

sources[edit]

Emily Haines' Birthplace?[edit]

The Emily Haines page indicates she was born in India, whereas this page states North Bay, Ontario. -- 24.85.42.119 03:53, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

North Bay was edited in at 15:40, 17 July 2007 by an anonymous contributor and edited back out at 23:27, 30 November 2007. Then it came back at 22:05, 9 September 2008 until 12:58, 8 October 2008, and again at 22:00, 13 December 2008 until 04:13, 14 December 2008. There appears to be a Metric fan with a North Bay obsession. Either that or someone knows something the rest of the world doesn't. -- Justinbb (talk) 09:44, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doctor Blind[edit]

I know that Metric released the song Doctor Blind before Emily Haines released it on her solo album with the Soft Skeleton. Does anyone know about when this was released? I have this song, but I cannot find any information on it. I assure you that this in not the Emily Haines version. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.239.205.147 (talk) 03:23, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't give you any source on this off the top of my head, but as far as I know, Doctor Blind was written by Emily, but not for Metric, years before the Soft Skeleton project came about. As she wasn't using it for anything, it was used by Metric live at various locations by Jimmy Shaw's request but never, to my knowledge, actually released under the Metric name. When Emily started gathering material for a solo project, she nicked Doctor Blind back. All of this is from memory, but I think that's how the story goes.DamionOWA (talk) 06:07, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

4th album release[edit]

The article previously had an uncited assertion that the fourth album would be out June 23rd; anyone know where this came from? Or, for that matter, any information regarding the new album? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.205.181.14 (talk) 02:49, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dual Citizenship[edit]

Article states that she has dual citizenship, but isn't clear what those two citizenships are. As the article is written, it implies that she is Indian/Canadian. Is that correct? 翔太 「Shouta:talk」 11:14, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the Canadian context, "dual citizenship" usually implies the United States as the second country, a supposition that is supported by the fact that her father was American. -- Justinbb (talk) 09:44, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gimme Sympathy Video[edit]

Who posted this bit about a Gimme Sympathy music video? What is the source? —Preceding unsigned comment added by EvanEtrics (talkcontribs) 21:20, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on a page about the Gimme Sympathy single. I screwed up the title, and i'm new so I can't change it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Wyder92/Gimme_Sympathy

I would also like to add a picture of the music video to that area. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyder92 (talkcontribs) 03:21, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When did they move to Toronto from Brooklyn?[edit]

The article does not say. It opens with a lead that they are a Canadian as in Toronto band, and in the text it leaves them in a Brooklyn loft. I'd fix it, but I just don't know. --Mareklug talk 22:31, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Cosmopolis Soundtrack[edit]

Considering Metric perform all of the tracks in the 'Cosmopolis' soundtrack and co-wrote some of them, don't you think it ought to appear in their official discography, under the Studio albums section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CouchJarvis (talkcontribs) 18:18, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, not Studio section, because it is not a studio album. It figures correctly in the discography article under Soundtracks. --Mareklug talk 06:56, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Improved article[edit]

I improved a lot the wiki page for Metric. It looked quite poor and with many errors before my edits. I added also some pictures. However, the article still needs more citations. Help if you can. Deepblue1 (talk) 20:46, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion for the Timeline[edit]

Would fit more consistently with the usual color coding for the instruments on timelines. 173.79.135.125 (talk) 05:51, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tone of the article[edit]

This article is written too much from the band's point of view, with the focus on announcements rather than events. If the band did something, the sentence about it should say so, and when it happened, not when it was planned or announced. This just makes the article too long and wordy, and the announcements can often only be supported by references that are not independent. an exception to this might be if something was planned but for particularly interesting reasons didn't happen until much later or was cancelled.—Anne Delong (talk) 14:38, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tour info needs to be updated[edit]

The last sentence in the Tour section reads "Metric are touring Europe and the United States during fall 2018 and winter 2019 in promotion of Art of Doubt." This needs to be updated for 2020. ~EdGl! 14:43, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
