Category:Psychology articles needing attention[edit]

I added this tag, because this article is incomplete. Just a couple of diagnoses are mentioned, there are many more. At the same time, I'm not sure if all of them really should get a description. This is what I'll do unless there are any objections. I'll basically wipe out the whole page and copy this section: DSM-IV_Codes#Disorders_usually_first_diagnosed_in_infancy.2C_childhood.2C_or_adolescence and this section: List_of_ICD-9_codes_290–319:_mental_disorders#Mental_disorders_diagnosed_in_childhood_.28312.E2.80.93316.29. ICD-10_Chapter_V:_Mental_and_behavioural_disorders#.28F90.E2.80.93F98.29_Behavioural_and_emotional_disorders_with_onset_usually_occurring_in_childhood_and_adolescence Maybe write a short lead. Will be working on and modifying this article[edit]

My name is Carissa Stech. I am an undergraduate student at Clemson University. My class is working with Dr. June Pilcher on the Association for Psychological Science's Wikipedia Initiative. I will be working on editing and adding more information to this particular page for the next couple weeks. I would appreciate any suggestions along the way! Hi Carissa! As you can see, I don't know what to do with this article, and nobody else has given any comments. Maybe it should only be about this DSM-IV group, and the ICD-10 stuff should be removed. And about the question on how to expand the article, it seems an awful lot of work to write short summaries of all diagnoses that are part of this group. With friendly regards! Update[edit]

Hi all! For anyone concerned, I just wanted to give an update as to how I decided to modify this article. I decided to reference the DSM-IV-TR in the modified article. Any diagnoses that did not link up to another Wikipedia article for more information, I decided to add the description or the criteria to meet the specific diagnosis. Anyone interested in checking it out and giving some input can find my modified article in my sandbox.

Such a good job, and such a problem that you could not have been aware of. Adding DSM-IV criteria to articles constitute a copyright violation. Please read Wikipedia_talk:Copyright_violations. So you lots of your good work cannot be added to the article. On the more positive side, your teacher can still read what you've written in your sandbox and give you credit for that. Update to DSM 5[edit]

Hi Wikipedia, I have tried to update the article to the DSM 5 and was rejected. I suspect due to removing the highly biased "controversies" section. I have the proposed changes up on my sandbox if anybody could take a look at it and let me know what is wrong with it. Hello Heyemmab. The problem wasn't with removal of the controversies section, it was that you removed whole sections of text without explaining why. Examples: removing the section DSM-IV-TR in this edit, and removing multiple sections on DSM-IV-TR, Cause, Symptoms, and Treatment, along with article categories and templates at the bottom of the page in this edit. Some of those sections had WP:Reliable sources. When you're making a significant change to the page, at the very least please add an edit summary explaining why. If it's a lengthy explanation, the edit summary might be something like "removing this section, will explain at talk page", and then post a rationale for the deletion here. Without an explanation, it simply looks to other editors like you're blanking the content for the fun of it. We get a lot of that on Wikipedia. Rather than paste the edited version of the article that's in your sandbox, I'd recommend you make the changes one section at a time, explaining the rationale for each change. Then your fellow editors can see the reasons for the change, and either contest them, or query them here for further discussion, or improve the changes that you make, etc. Thanks. Page Updating[edit]

Hello everyone,

My name is Rammaine Landells and I am a graduate student at San Diego State University. I'm currently doing a "Wikipedia Project" for a class and I've chosen the topic of Mental Disorders in Children. I came across this page a couple of days ago and I really like it. I think that the information here is great and that it relates to my topic of mental health disorders in children. I will not be making any edits to anyone's work. Instead, I will be adding a section that I'm currently working on with the help of my current instructor Dr. Nellie Tran.

Also, I'm new to Wikipedia so if anyone has any suggestions or feedback on what I post, that would be great.
