Consensus[edit]

According to current consensus and WP:MUSIC a single is considered notable if it reaches No. 1 in a major country (this made No. 2). It has other claims to notability re the link with the cannibalism case, but there is little info here which is not covered elsewhere and on the album page, so I have redirected. Please come and talk to me at my talk page if you have a problem with that. - Just zis  Guy, you know? [T]/[C] (W) AfD? 15:43, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Grammy[edit]

There are numerous references to an "upcoming" Grammy award in 2004. Seeing as it's now 2006, does anyone konw the outcome? --zandperl 19:34, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Penis?[edit]

The Meiwes article mentioning the song makes an effort to explain that "Teil" is slang for "Penis" in German.

Yes, yes it is. But is it intended as such in the title? From personal experience the emphasis in the song doesn't imply that meaning but the more general "part of me". The word "Teil" isn't emphasized in the song, which, again, judging by my personal experience as a native speaker, it usually would be if it were intended to be the slang usage.

Any official answer? Otherwise the note should be removed or at least be generalised. — Ashmodai (talk · contribs) 03:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess that piece of information was taken from Herzeleid.com (not that it's automatically reliable source). I don't even really know German language (other than translations that I looked up), but once again according to the site, in the third line, "Weiche Teile" is a pun on "Weichteile", which means "genitals" in German. Combined with that, maybe "Teil" could be more strongly linked to the slang usage? Again, I have no clue what emphasis would be needed for the word to take up its slang sense, but from an outsider's view I would think it could be included reasonably as a possible implication. I don't know where this piece of information was taken but I reverted it as completely unsubstantiated and hoax. It's a song about a cannibal. "Mein teil" in this case means "my share at the table". The allusion is to people with various tastes at the family table - some like white meat, some like beef, etc. Also, "mein Teil" is NOT "my thing" and never was. Weiche Teile has nothing to do with anything sexual. The whole line reads "Both tender (weiche) parts as well as those hard to chew (harte) are on the menu". Weichteile means soft tissue in German NOT genitals. With fantasies like that, someone needs to seriously think about getting laid instead of editing a global encyclopedia. I have no idea what you're talking about. Mein Teil can indeed mean "my thing" and was (don't know about today) frequently used in porn. Furthermore, Weichteile is exclusively used with the meaning of male genitals in everyday speech ("Ich tret dir in die Weichteile" - "I'll kick you in the nuts"). "weiche Teile" is close enough to "Weichteile" to at least suggest a play on words. And lastly, the inspiration to the song was the cannibal Armin Meiwes, who cut off his victim's penis which they both tried to eat afterwards, before Meiwes proceeded to kill his willing victim. The motivation of both Meiwes and his victim to do all that was of a sexual nature. The phenomenon is not new or unknown and Meiwes got 60 responses to his online post looking for a man to slaughter. 95.116.25.122 (talk) 19:47, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
